the samba version in pli is 3.0.37 and is already elderly - is it planned to put in the newer version 3.6.25 in pli-4.0 image ?
i ask because i need protocol SMBv2 (option vers=2.0) it's for better performance.

There is an OpenPLi 5 on the way though, which contains (at the time of writing ):

And since OpenPLi no longer officially support DMM products this is really not a problem then.

The dm8000 remains built (which is actually not the same as "supported"), but the dm8000 has more flash - no problem.
