The size of the OpenWebif package will increase by 1.4 MB if OpenPLi doesn't do something like this too:
https://github.com/o...9742b9ea29d60e3
1.4 MB is nothing for a box with 256 MB or more of flash, but a lot for boxes with 64 MB or 128 MB.
With
enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg
you will have WebTV support for Google Chrome, without it you won't.
That's all, so that package can safely be made an option.

But as I mention there: Try ASAP!
I just copied the mattering lines from our git, but we build OWIF differently.

is the additional package with just the VXG Media Player Plugin for Chrome (Server part).
Yes, it's larger than the whole rest of OWIF. No problem e.g. for a Vu+ Duo², but a major problem for a box with just 64 MB or even 128 MB of flash.

Thanks for forwarding the merge request...! Very appreciated...
I think this is a nice added feature... (when a box has enough memory of course...)

Some people might prefer the way WebTV works (Especially when they rarely use streaming), others might prefer the old way of streaming (Which of course still works).
About the tuner state:
The E2 API is very limited when it comes to providing these informations and the PLi way of streaming even bypasses this limited API, so there is no chance of getting a truely accurate tuner state there.
So you will probably only see true recordings and live TV there.
VXG is to Chrome what VLC used to be and still is for Firefox and IE (Chrome disabled the NPAPI, thus locking out VLC).
If you use Chrome and want to give it a try, you can install enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg and use Web TV with Chrome in the way as you do with Firefox using the VLC plugin.
In case you do not use Chrome or you do not care about WebTV, you do not need enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg.
About flash size:
enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg uses 2.3 MB extracted, so if you have like 5 MB flash or more free, you can give it a shot. If you have less, I would suggest you let it be, having no space left in flash can have bad effects.

You need to install the enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg package for WebTV to work in Chrome.
Also note that Chrome blocks "mixed content" entirely, you can not open the OWIF using https and have Web TV ( Which is using http) working at the same time.
So for WebTV to work in Chrome:
1.
opkg install enigma2-plugin-extensions-openwebif-vxg2. Use http to access the box' web interface (You will also need to install the browser plugin the first time you use Web TV)
2nd box: Gigablue Quad 4k 2xDVB-S2 FBC / 2xDVB-C / 1.8 TB HDD / OpenATV 6.2
