Hi all,

After the issues I got with a solo2 and a duo2, I ordered a Solo 4K. It's brand new.

I tried to install OpenPli on it but all my tentatives were unsuccessful. It goes through all the steps until the rebooting phase then both screens (the embedded and the tv) blink several times, then I have the Vu+ logo with black and grey background then everything disappears: black screen on the TV (I'd say that the screen is turned off) and grey embedded screen.

I repeated the operation several times with the same result.

Can someone please help me with this issue?

Thanks.

PS: The installation webpage (https://openpli.org/...c/installation/) gives a 404.

Where do you get that link from? That doesn't seem correct...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

 I ordered a Solo 4K. It's brand new.

Have you initially tested the Solo4K with the original Vu+ image before flashing OpenPLi?

Did it work correctly?

Yes. One was not good and resulted in wrong text but three others seemed to work correctly.

Tested this morning with BlackHole and it worked on the first attempt.

The OpenPli stucks at rebooting and does not show the display setting screen.

Hi,

You need to open up the front door of the Solo4k and press the button hidden behind this door to validate that you want to flash.

The big blue button on the front panel is useless.

Yes, I know :)

This is how I managed to start the flasing with both OpenPli and BlackHole.

On both, everything seems OK until "Rebooting in 0 seconds". Then, while BlackHole reboots correctly and offers to set the video input (480, 720, 1080i, etc), OpenPli remains on black screens.

Do you have an internal hdd or a usb stick attached on first boot? Does it contain a backup directory with settings backup?

Nope. It's completely new, open for the first time yesterday.

But does something happen when you press the Menu button?

No. Nothing happens, except the blue light on the front that blinks.

I managed to install it but only if directly connected to the TV with an HDMI cable. If it is connected through an audio receiver (Onkyo), it stucks when trying to detect the video mode.

Note that Black Hole does not stuck at the same point.

If you want to make tests to fix this issue, please let me know.

Finally, I figured out that the problem comes from the network interface. For some reason, even if OpenPli is installed and running, restarting it with an ethernet cable plugged in prevents it from completing the boot. Unplugging the cable allowed it to boot normally.

When the cable is plugged in, restarting the network interface freezes the receiver. Testing the interface results in issues getting an IP address but using a static one works. Note that all other devices at home use DHCP addresses with no issue.

Please, let me know if you can investigate on that. I can help, at least by running tests.

What's output on the console if you do "ifup eth0" with the cable attached? (use "ifdown eth0" first if it complains the interface was already up)
