Hi,

Can anyone suggest a solution/plugin to stream from an android phone to openpli?

The ideal would be a screen mirror solution

Thanks

Purchase a chromecast for this purpose, what will be the benefits to cast your screen to OpenPLi?

Some TV even have this chromecast feature build in.

It's already possible to send a "go play this URL" instruction through the webinterface to the box. But as far as I know, no one bothered to write an "App" that does that.

Will you ask you STB to be washing machine, make coffee, ... ?  To avoid to have 100s different hardware.

Purchase a Google Chromecast and your problem is solved.

@Milo,

Sending and URL to the STB will not display his Android Phone on screen.  ;)

I think you are a bit extreme here. Linux boxes have already a lot of extra features added via plugins.
I don't think the one I asked is a crazy one.
Thanks all for the advices.
Happy new year to you all.

Not in itself, no, but it's all you need on the box's side.

- Any phone has h264 encoding hardware and thus has everything it needs to stream anything to any other device in a format that the box will understand.
- Usually the phone is playing something from the network (e.g. youtube movie) and all it needs to do is just tell the box to play the same URL.

But every SmartTV from 2014 supports Screen mirroring (Miracast) without the need of dongles.:)

Here is an open source implementation: https://github.com/albfan/miraclecast

But if no developer has interest on this, dont expect to get it running.
