With all developers effort, the Kodi/XBMC experience on older E2 boxes is not very "exciting", I guess due slow processing power.

However, the newer 4K machines, for instance Uno 4K, with ARM dual core Broadcom 7252s processors shall be able to run full Kodi at a fraction of the available power. Actually they are some of the most powerful boxes on the market at this time.

Unfortunately Kodi implementation on the 4K new boxes is the same as on the old boxes, it forces Kodi to use the E2 player which has very limited capability, not even subtitles, most plugins don't work, broken CIFS, no IPTV, no PVR plugins.
Generally speaking, if you never seen the real Kodi, the E2 kodi implementation is so basic that is nothing to look forward for.

Is it possible to have a standard Kodi implementation only on 4K boxes, something maybe not compiled in, just a ipk that users can update to the latest Kodi release and having all Kodi standard features?

@york

Can I ask about somethink?

How do you think what you pay for such STB?

No. Hardware is not worth so much money.

So, for what? Maybe for software?

If yes, where you should go and ask about such features?

Because at now it looks like they make money by selling opensource.

I completely agree with you, unfortunately I couldn't find out all issues before I bought the Uno4k and unfortunately in my place got vey short return time. Than I have to live with it and find solutions. Spent a lot of time...
The company shall offer a working solution out off the box, but them image is minimal, and for sure they couldn't sale without the open source developments.

Sorry, I do not understand the problem. One can watch Kodi on tv from any android tablet or phone or windows or linux pc. So why worry if your box cannot ?

I understand even less of all of it. OpenPLi supports a range of set top boxes that we supply with an image that runs enigma2 as it's control program. Where even did any one say you can or should run Kodi on these receivers? What does OpenPLi has to do with it, at all? Looks like a subject for "The Lounge" as it's not related?
