Spent already a lot of time reading this threat....Try to make a IPTV only Openli 7 solution. Only EPG is a challenge. Use import filter to download the correct EPG

My bouquet contains

#SERVICE 5002:0:19:2330:442:1:C00000:0:0:0:https%3a//.............................................u8:FRANCE 5
#DESCRIPTION FRANCE 5

5002 is needed to play this stream (via systemplugin serviceapp (1+git159)

Created /etc/epgimport/iptv.channels.xml as my local file definitions

<?xml version=”1.0? encoding=”latin-1??>
<channels>
<!-- FR/BE --><!-- 19.0E --><channel id="France5.fr">5002:0:19:2330:442:1:C00000:0:0:0:http%3a//example.com</channel><!-- FRANCE 5 HD -->
</channels>

Updated EPG info via EPGimport and many different sources but no luck..... (ofcourse I restarted Enigma2 via init4/init3

Any hint is VERY welcome. Only need ~ 30 channels to maintain in my private project

If you hav e to maintain only 30 or so channels, the file custom.channels.xml has been created for such cases.

See https://forums.openp...om.channels.xml for more details.

Just create the customs.channels.xml in etc/epgimport and it will be used automatically.  No need to edit the sources.xml file.

The file looks like the attached.

Tried to add the customs.channels.xml in etc/epgimport by adding 2 channels, an enigma2 restart and an epgimport filter session. No succes.

Suddenly I was able to map channels via the EPG Import Filter as below

And was hoping that I would have the matching EPG for these channels, but no

Import ran,see first image and see even EPG data in that screen, but when I go back to the regular watching mode in that bouquet my EPG button on my remote doesn't show any detail... (on the regular openpli sat boxes I do get the EPGs)

Subscribe to an official TV offer with their own private receiver and you will have the EPG from the provider.

No.  EPG for IPTV remains difficult.  Several reasons (besides it is illegal):

1. Enigma2 requires a service ref for each each channel.

2. IPTV providers give every channel the ref 4097:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:
The channel will play but it is not possible to assign EPG to it.  (or a picon)

3. The channel ref in the bouquet has to be changed to an unique value

4. The link in the epgimport channels file has to be matched.

I am beginning to suspect you are skipping half the steps involved here.

f.i. what is the service ref the IPTV channel is linked to.  Look for it in the bouquetfile.

Check out also the epgimport.log file for clous why it is going wrong.

Its not that hard actually if you have good source of EPG. I also need to be clear than not all IPTV is illegal. Some legal providers do support IPTV via multicast, so you can watch TV also on your PC or E2 receiver or mobile phone or whatever. Negative side of this (for provider) is that some channels are watchable even if you have only basic TV subscription. At least in my case. Some channels are scrambled though, you cannot watch them even if you have subscription. Demand of distributor ... You need to use official receiver.

In my case there are 200+ channels, mapping EPG for all them by hand is useless. But there is good quality EPG source, available on a website made by enthusiast with PROPER channels names that are IDENTICAL to channel names in M3U list. This situation enables me to use wonderful solution available - E-Channelizer. Sorry, you might read this as advertisement but it is not. I paid for this app, I didnt get it for free.

This application enables you to automatically map channels with EPG. But as I already wrote. You need to have really good EPG source that is compatible with channel names in m3u file. This means echannelizer will map most of the channels correctly. Of course, you can check by hand every channel if mapping is correct. It can happen that it is not, it depends on quality of EPG source. You also have "stars system" which helps you to quickly find out if channel has correct EPG attached/mapped.

Application is not free though if you want EPG for IPTV functions ...

Are you joking ???

The XMLT Files provided from Rytec already include the channel names as comments and my EPGLoad Plugin has a "Similar Channels" feature which allows you to load EPG for all your IPTV or Cable or Terrestrial Channels based on these names with the "Similar Channel" Option without any other help or subscription or ...

As most providers in the meantime use sensemaking service references to allow EPG and Picons this works nicely and for free.

For finetuning EPGLoad Plugin allows you also to create a custom channels file on the fly if this is what you prefere.

Normally I'm NOT advertising my plugins, but for such jokes there is only a simple reply possible.

This is new to me.  I stay away from the use of IPTV from "illegal" providers, so I did not know this.

I only use legal IPTV as listed in :  https://forums.openp...ls-service-ref/

I don't actively Support this either, but as they want to make Money There is progress in the meantime.

They even Offer custom Channel Files mirroring your Channel ids or even their own epg source Servers borrowing your epg Files under different Names.

Personally, I do not have a problem with that.

If users which have a problem also contact their "provider" and not here, this would help.

I understand.

The same happened on Webgrab++.  An user got very upset because somebody was using his work for providing EPG as IPTV "provider".

Solution according to WG++.  Make everything closed.  Not publishing any SiteIni's anymore.

Refusing to give help to programmers.  (reply: learn it yourself)

When I objected about that, I got called a thief, an some more nice names.

Result: I do not publish anything anymore on WG++.  Instead I am using my github page.

If only those IPTV provider would solve their own problems.  That would really help.

EPG for IPTV has 2 things which have to be fullfilled:

1.  An unique service ref

2. A link of this service ref to the correct EPG.

Since both are out of my control for providing EPG,  The "provider" should really provide these.  And maintain them.

No, technically both problems are solveable, with the similar channel approach I could also update the service references and re-write an EPG enabled bouquet the same way that I generate the custom channels file.

It would NOT be perfect eitgher, as sometimes Channel names are used from different providers with same name for different Channels, but these are relatively rare and normally don't happen on the same SAT position.

But I created EPGLoad Plugin for myself and NOT to make IPTV providers happy, hence the chance is low that I will do this, despite that it is relatively easy to implement. You may call this egoistic, but these were things I always missed in EPGImport (besides my long lasting critics on the quality of the code):

* The Similar channels feature for example was done to be able to get EPG for my local DVB-T2 Channels without wasting my time to create my own channels file.

* The Episode/Season Feature I created because I wanted to have this information from the EPG description to be transferred to the Titel of the event

* The removal of the [xxx] I simply implemented because I hate to have duplicate information in my EPG.

* Possibility to cache the downloaded files to reduce the load on the XMLTV serviers

* and there is more I will add over time, but at the moment I'm busy with the Dreambox One

And yes all this EPGImport didn't offer ... since years ...

Ciao
