And the problem is not that enigma2 does not support EPG for IPTV channels, because it support it.

Only it is not straight out of the box. It could be if the IPTV (illegal) providers would only take on some guide lines. But the only thing they are interested in is making money as much as possible.

Which is really nothing different compared to legal providers. Only these answer (sometimes) to complaints. These illegal providers do not care a single bit. Ever heard of a call center with such a provider.

Dear doglover,

i'm using rytec channels for extracting correct service refs ... however i've found that some items are duplicated , with different service refs. How it's possible?

1:0:1:2:1770:110:820000:0:0:0:

1:0:1:2:3DE:110:820000:0:0:0:

Yes, very much possible.

Probably an old entry. But I do not know which is the current one. I could check it on KingOfSat or Lyngsat, but this is an hideous task. (more than 10 000 channels are mapped to EPG).

If nobody complains, it means that nobody has problems with this, and it just sits there doing nothing.

I am aware of this situation, and I clean out the list when I come across such assignments. But I never can catch them all.

(A couple of months ago, I cleaned out the UK section - 28.2E)

Another possibility is that the channel is broadcasting on 2 different transponders, and both need to be assigned.

Something which creates problems is assigning a 2 different EPG's to the same service ref. You end up with a mixed EPG form 2 channels.

Thank you.

However i'm in trouble because i have a double reference in my script ;) .... the correct one is the first one.

What about extracting service refs from my lamedb ? My receiver is connected to satellite ...

Removed it from the channels file.

Yes you can extract it from lamedb.

An small utility (vbs file) which can do it is attached.

Place this utility together with the lamedb in a folder and run the utitlity (on Windows)

It produces a refs.txt file

Thank you very much .. this exceed my expectations. I'm not using Windows, i will try to port this script in an Unix environment using sed or awk ...

Dear doglover.

i've checked your script and i found something is not right.

The script is appending always 1:0:1 as start of the service ref.

However some service are 1:0:19 , for this reason the correspondent picon will not be loaded.

IE:

1:0:1:1C57:206C:FBFF:820000:0:0:0:
p:SkyItalia,C:0000

but correct one should be:

1:0:19:1C57:206C:FBFF:820000:0:0:0:
p:SkyItalia,C:0000

Yes, it does it.

It is a very old script. Needs some amending.

The channel from above is in the lamedb respresented as:

1c57:00820000:206c:fbff:25:0:0

I you take the fifth value, and convert it to a Hexadecimal value you will get the 19 you need.

The 22 in the fifth value will convert to 16

This awk script will convert lamedb into services, providing all fields including hex values and provider name.

out of curiosity if channel refercences are whatever we want them to be how does epgimport know what epg needs to be imported for which channels? is it based on the channel name then? it has to match the one of the satellites then?

sorry I missed the obvious.

regards

Service ref you use for iptv channel needs to be the same as the one that is already used for epg on satellite, cable or terrestial channel.

Its a lot of work, but at the end you can get nice epg on most channels.
