Hi,

Can someone explain if this change now enable support for DVB-S2X and MultiStream on the current Mut@nt HD51 tuners, or is it for a future plugable DVB-S2X tuner?

https://github.com/O...673bcffaf094d18

Does Wiki STB comparison needs to be updated accordingly?   ;)

Hi,

for me it sounds like: enable multistream for dvb-s2x tuner and not enable dvb-s2x.

ciao

Hi,

Can you please provide a link to the DVB-S2X tuner for the HD51 then?

Today the HD51 tuners are announced DVB-S2 I could not find any specific DVB-S2X tuner for the HD51, so either now the existing tuner are already DVB-S2X capable and it is now enabled thanks to this update, or they will release a new DVB-S2X tuner to plug in the HD51.

Because just enabling multistream on dvb-s2x tuner if the tuner are not available makes no sense.

So this point needs a clarifaction from people that are closed to Mut@nt (HD-Digital).

The current tuners in the HD51 are AVL6211, and this tuner can not do DVB-S2x or multistream.

Google for the datasheet.

Yes, afaik they want to release new dvb-s2x tuners for the box, which you can buy if you want.

It doesn't mean it will support all dvb-s2x functions. At moment it's still unknown if the broadcom CPU can handle all the new dvb-s2x options.

The tuner however will been the first dvb-s2x hardware capable tuner with it's configuration SI2166-D60 + RT720.

The additional tuner it's just an option if you want to have the dvb-s2x demo channel, need of multistream and hopefully in near future support of wideband LNB's.

Hi,

Can anyone compare tuner sensitivity between HD51's S2 and S2X tuners?

Are they similar or one is better?

Do the handle very high and very low SR similarly?

Basically, if someone has both, can you please give a short comparison?

Thank you.

I have a marginal FTA 28.2E signal e.g. BBC1HD & sometimes SD will drop out depending on Summer lows or the weather and ITV HD is a dead signal usually.

From a very quick comparison when I first bought the DVB.S2x tuner, I would say it is more sensitive at picking up weak signals - but thats some time ago, so it would be better if I did another & better comparison and I will report back next week

Thank you.

If you also have a chance to compare the performance of S2 vs S2X for low and high SR, it would be great!

Found time today.

So if I look at Astra 2G services, which are typically unavailable for me (unless its a good reception day), then on the S2 tuner it cannot see anything using Satfinder.

The S2x tuner can see the service and can hold a lock for a period but the signal is just not strong enough to pull the audio/video in. (< 4.5dB) ..... I need at least 6.5dB)

If you pick a viewable service then you see No difference between the 2 tuners.

So Yes, the S2x tuner is more sensitive but not enough in my environment to pull in weak services.... I am sure on good reception days, the S2x will pull in some services that I normally cannot lock.

If you want me to try anything else let me know (I can pick up 19.2/28.2)

Thanks a lot for your test.

With 19.2/28.2 you will not be able to test very low or very high SR.

As the Si1266 is in some very basic models, I don't expect it to be the top notch in quality, even though it's feature rich. Also don't forget todays there is no such thing as a "tuner", a "tuner" is a whole ecosystem of an analogue frontend, a demodulator and processing on the SoC. If just one of the part is of less quality, it will show in the whole chain.

By the way, I look here:

https://openpli.org/...oad/mutant/HD51

and I see two types of release:

- ..._usb.zip

- ..._multiboot.zip

What is the difference between them?

I would assume "multiboot" contains something extra but the file is smaller, which beats me.

Can somebody please clarify?

Thank you.

You can install 4 different images on the box at the same time.

..._usb.zip is for USB flashing. And it deletes all installed images.

The ..._multiboot.zip is for the new flash image feature in the image. It installs a new image and all other 3 images on the box are not deleted.

Thanks. I still need some clarification.

1) If I get a brand-new HD51 and I want to flash OpenPLi and still have a possibility to install some other images in multiboot, which file should I use to flash HD51 for the first time?

2) If I already have OpenPLi in flash, how to proceed in order to install 3 other images next to the main one (OpenPLi)?

3) When all 4 images are already installed, are they all in the flash or are some of them on a USB stick?

Put the foreign image as zip file on root of hdd or usb stick... and flash it via flashimage... the image is installed
On one of the four possible flash slots.
