I just flashed my ET10000 with OpenPLi because ATV and ViX both jam if trying to use Sundtek C/T2 tuners. Obvious problem is a bug in 4.8.3 kernel they are using. PLi with kernel 4.0.1 works fine. But where is MediaPortal? Not in plugins. I tried to install manually 8.0.3 using --force--depends without succsess.

There are quite a few threads around here with issues installing Mediaportal. What result did you get, especially which error messages? Probably you need to install some additional python files like python-argparse and a few others. After it's working once it will update fine automatically.

Chances are the package has invalid or incomplete dependencies.  Unlike some other images OpenPLi only installs what is required, not everything that might possibly be needed in the future.

Assuming MediaPortal is not going to fix their errors, you'll have to figure out what the missing dependencies are, and install them yourself, like @Satpal wrote.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

That is not what I want to do. Maybe just better wait for the fix with kernel in ATV and ViX images.

Well actually Mediaportal is now written to use gstreamer 1.0 and pli 4.xxx uses gstreamer 0.1.xxx . Do not even try .

Media portal is a very very good written and working plugin but you can't work with medieval gstreamer version and Modern Mediaportal.

So what you mean is that PLi is using gstreamer 0.10.36 while for example ViX is using gstreamer 1.9.0 ?

How do you know it is very good written... did you see some source code? If so, where are they?

At least the files it puts on your box clearly identify some loss of structure. But I know it is a plugin to play (doubtful) streams... all (doubtful) streams played better with newer gstreamer Openpli 5 has....

The thing is that I don`t care how it`s written. I care if I can use it with the image I`m using.

I'm currently using openatv , And yes the mediaportal is running by 100 % there . And this on the stable 5.3 version which is usig gstreamer 1.8.3 , But now also it works perfect on the non official(well limited to the beta tester team members) published beta version opentav-6.0  with the very last gstreamer (head) 1.11.2.xx

But media portal since long has been updated fot gst-1.0 or aboth, not that it maybe can be made workable for lower gst version but the maintainers do not take care or disregard all issues concerning gstreamer below 1.0 now ,

Since they are working with oe-alliance of which the stable image since long has a gstreamer version a both 1.0 they look at that . So yes I know , and Mediaportal works very very good.

If it is not available as source, does it have a license that permits us to use it?

Good point Looks it may only be used on DMM boxes...... There is only one exeption... VTI may use it for VU boxes....

Sounds like teams that offer it in their streams different from DMM boxes are voilating it's license.... (except VTI of course)....

Sounds it might be better someone develop a totally different and real GPL alternative....

Very weird license. Why only in VTI? Is that because of the court case between them and DMM?

Hi yes licensing issues are important, but by openatv it is avbl to all boxes and the developers are even helping so ...

But indeed somehow You could come into troubles, However the license line mentioned on :

https://forums.openp...ndpost&p=676461

Is pure crap, when it really comes to a court case (at last higher court ) It will be wiped out and marked as crap, that it is. Then obviously some rules will have to be followed further on for the case and those will be GPL wich version that's another point but it will be GPL .
