Hi,

OScam is open source and then you can compile it yourself and install it on your box.

Name the file oscam and transfert it to  /usr/bin so full file path and name is:  /usr/bin/oscam . check that its chmod is 755.

Then restart oscam and you will have the latest version.

If there is a need to update to a newer Oscam version, let us know, and we'll update to a newer revision.

However, If it is just "to have the latest", it's not going to happen. The bleeding edge always comes with new bugs...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

The only place you can download anything is via menu - plugins - green button.

You think wrong. I can read a commit log too, but that doesn't tell me the reason to update it.

Perhaps when we switch to separate stable and development images, we can revise this policy, but for now, the current version is stable for virtually all users, and the log entries you posted don't really create the need for an update.

What is your definition of "an open app download center"? And why is that different from the current download list?

@skystar2,

You do something wrong when replacing the oscam binary.

Be sure that your FTP is in passive mode and use binary file transfer.

The name is oscam and not oscam.bin

If it complaints because the file is in use in telnet type:

/etc/init.d/softcam stop

Then replace the /usr/bin/oscam

In telnet:

chmod 755 /usr/bin/oscam

/etc/init.d/softcam start

Be careful with pre-compiled version of OScam that you found on the internet (so select option that you don't need and that even can prevent it to run on your system) it is better to compile your own oscam with the feature that you really need.

I know that, but as it is yet more work, I was wondering what the use-case was. There is hardly ever a need to download an ipk with your browser, and install it on the box manually.

Besides that, we currently block a lot of traffic to our download servers, as they are already misused for other purposes than supporting the users of genuine OpenPLi images, something for which we have to pick up the substantial tab.

Hi,

If you run an OpenPLi image and if you want a list of packages simply use telnet command:

opkg update

opkg list

To know what is already on your box simply type:

opkg list-installed

Or of course you can also browse in OpenPLi itself from the GUI.

In the GUI you will only see packages with a name that starts with "enigma2-plugin".

As a typical user, there is no need so see the others, they are system packages, and should be defined as dependency of a plugin, if and where needed. If you are a non-typical user, you are expected to have enough knowledge about the system and know your way on the commandline.

What we want to avoid is typical users fooling around will all sorts of ipk files, and use either ours on other images, or the other way around. Contrary to popular belief, not all enigma images are the same, so chances are things will fail, and when they do, these typical users come here to complain about it, and wasting our time doing so.
