Can someone tell me when the support for the H265 Codec will be included in OpenPLI? As I cannot play any Files of that type. All I get is the Sound.

Regards

Paxster;-)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the H5 only does full hd hevc, not 4k.

Also PLi4 uses gstreamer 0.10.. I believe it doesn't pass hevc trough the mediasink.

HEVC will be supported for external media in the upcoming OpenPLi release.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hi, can I ask when its looking like an Official OpenPli 5.0 will be released? please.

I compile on development branch for my vuuno4k which is cool, but general query as if its close or not for official?

Thanks

Next release is in preparation.

But as we're going to a new development and release model (you've probably noticed the changes in the repository), we still need a bit of time on the systems side of things...

I think that Mastag is correct, Zgemma support HVEC H.265 only up to full HD resolution 1080p any media with 4K resolution will not play on it since it is not capable to perform downscaling from 4K to 1080p.

When you read the spec of Zgemma H.5 you find this, so it is sold has an HDTV not a 4K:

  • HDTV Receiver MPEG-2/4 H. 264,HEVC/H.265

NO SUPPORT by PM, it is a forum make your question public so everybody can benefit from the question/answer.
If you think that my answer helps you, you can press the up arrow in bottom right of the answer.

The HEVC is up to 1080p. Indeed not 4K.

PS. HEVC brings lot of bandwidth savings on FHD channels. Also good for Internet TV
