Hello,

I have problems to install OpenVPN on a Xsarius STB. I looks like kernel-module-tun is missing.

root@fusionhd:~# opkg install kernel-module-tun

You can't do much (but wait).

Kernel options are enabled in the BSP package, which is maintained by the manufacturer. We'll have to see why the kernel-module-tun packages isn't built, and ask the manufacturer to make changes if needed.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

ok, i´ll wait and hope it can be fixed.

There is a topic in the netherland section, that is more than one year old. I do not understand dutch, but topic seems to be about the same issue.

From the response of post #11 in that thread, I can deduct that the kernel change was made, and the tun module was created.

Not sure why it's gone now, I'll have passed it on to the manufacturer.

they added the module, then (accidentally) removed it, at the next defconfig change:

Thank you both for identifying the cause of the problem.

Lets hope Xsarius reactivates the openvpn kernel module.

More than a year has passed and still no OpenVPN possible.

root@fusionhd:~# opkg install kernel-module-tun
Unknown package 'kernel-module-tun'.
Collected errors:
 * opkg_solver_install: Cannot install package kernel-module-tun.

Xsarius is really disappointing.

When they are finished fooling about and we can build an image with it.

Is that the reason why the patch of yesterday was merged only into develop branch and not in release-6.2?

Because we don't have a lot of trust in the developers of some manufacturers, so we like to double check before breaking a release image.

Which is this case has proven to be the right step, as they f'd up my PR massively, with the result that their current BSP doesn't build at all.

When the problems are solved, will the features like OpenVPN be integrated into 6.2?

I guess it will take a while until next stable release 6.3
