I understand that openpli does not official support fast channel switch functionality, but I was wondering if it is possible to add that functionality manually (by using opkg or in some other way)?

Thanks

No, we need big changes in the code of the enigma(c++ part / only VU+ model).

And vu's implementation is not made in a structured way... and in addition in the Netherlands it will not work as it kills our cards and in Germany it does not work because of ci+... only fta works so the question is the added value when you compare it with the impact on e2 code by vu

Why would you want that stupid feature? What's the point?

The way vu implemented it needs a lot of mods in e2... In addition the "patch" i needs the current channel list from the ui...
I prefer to have something that can be done in python that can pretune a specific channel.... and arrange the pretuning from there... And arrange when a service is already tuned switch live tv to the pretuned stream... I think when done like this we need 10%--20% of the code lines the current implementation has...

So in short I would like to have a pretune function from python... And while you realky want to play a live stream it first check if a pretune is avsilable, if somswitch to at, when not do the normal stuff...

From the other hand with cards having ecm limits per time slot... And mandarory cI(+) requirements I think this feature does not has real priority as it only really works for fta zapping and it saves a flash of a second only when you zap next and previous channels in the channel list....

Hi Huevos,

if you were a hardcore zapper you would love this stupid feature. FCC was the only reason I spent €1000 last year for new STBs:-) In my eyes it was one of the few really new features of the last years. A few years ago I activated my old DVB-S SD receiver and was jealous about the switching speed.

btw. not (yet) all cards have ECM limits.

Will you tell me how this works, principle?
And I'll try to do this on the plugin.

The plugin special jump from fischreiher (see atv forum) has a "fast zap mode" which pretunes channels.
I have never used it and don't know how it works, but perhaps source code helps you implementing it.

That is something different... 'Plugin zum schnellen manuellen Überspringen von Werbung (und mehr)".... while the normal stepskip is also sufficient for this

just download the .deb file from the Oozoon board
you can extract it with deb_extract.bat (Win)
deb_extract enigma2-plugin-extensions-fbz_0.1-r2_mipsel.deb

@echo off
rem deb_extract.bat
"c:\program files\7-zip\7z.exe" x %1
"c:\program files\7-zip\7z.exe" x data.tar
del data.tar

then just copy /FBZ directory to /usr/lib/enigma2/Plugins/Extensions
and restart Enigma2, it should be under extensions on pressing blue key
the plugin starts but I can´t get thue clue what it actually performs

I hope you now understand that this is a 'wierd' method...

Yes, that was the initial use of the plugin. But the developer added the fast zap mode:
"Fast Zap Mode (beschleunigte Umschaltzeiten durch vorausschauendes Vorladen des nächsten Senders auf einem weiteren Tuner)"

And where is the patch that is really doing fcc in just a plug-in?

As said I don't know how it works but I'm sure it's included in the plugin.

I agree with Littlesat this functionality should be added, if ever possible, using a plugin, or at least in the python code. Then even users with no FBC tuners (but e.g. four pluggable tuners) could benefit.

But it still fail to see the tsunami of request for this feature, which would make it interesin to spend time on it.

As far I can see the openATVs fastzap via the SpecialJump plugin does a fastzap via an hidden pip system -or- a 'recorded' system... it looks like what I had in mind how to implement it, but instead if using the pip system -and/or- the recording system we need an additional fcc feature (like a real dummy pip that keeps a fifo buffer and during a normal zap it is checked if the service is already in the queue)... And of course extreme less complicated code.... (I'm afraid I cannot offer my meaning here)...

Actually I don't think (ab)using the PiP is such a bad idea! Everytime you zap to a channel, the PiP is fired up with the "next" channel. When the "next" channel is requested, attach the tuner from the PiP to the main decoder and start tuning the PiP to the next service. The user can already make the PiP very small and we could add an option to hide it somehow altogether.
