I do not think you should (mis)use the PIP... I think it is batter to make something for it that does not do a pip. So you do not need to hide something....

This plugin does handle everything during the zap in channelselection... It "steals" functions over there... Something that is also not done.... I think it should be arranged in Navigate.py - with an extra code in cpp that can do something like 'pip' but without 'pip'...

When we can do 'pip' without 'pip' to an video output and this is possible multiple times.... the complete other fcc stuff can be covered in python extreme simple.... I suppose without config stuff I estimate in python max. 30 lines of code (I think even less).... Then it does next- and previous channel.... But we need code in cpp that can 'pretune' services... and when a service is selected it checks if the service is already pretuned...

Have a look at the EPGRefresh plugin. It has modes "PiP" and "fake recording". I think both are great to use for fast zapping. And I still love the idea of having the "next" channel in PiP.

i use a EPGRefresh mod on all images as AutoZap - it works perfectly

also you can run AutoZap of a bouquet without leaving the PiP window ;)

Grrr..... ;)

This in short means we only need a method how to switch a prepared stream to live TV. Nice that PIP and recording socket.... That looks better then ATV's plugin...

We should create an fcc socket.... ;)

I also think using pip is not the best idea. If we would always have only 1 extra channel it might be ok. But boxes with 3 or more tuners can also pretune more than 1 channel. And pip can (atm) only handle one channel.

Ask a simple question.
1-2 seconds, is it decisive?

I think Erik thinks it is a nice feature to have a mode where during zapping you see the next channel in PIP... and e.g. when you stop zapping it disappears after x seconds....

Yep, like that. So why not make it configurable? A PiP mode (where you can only pre-tune one tuner) and a more universal mode that can use all tuners?

So what is the logic for selecting which channels would be candidates for FCC.

I think at the moment next and previous channels in the bouquet(no warranty as I have never used). But at best this should be configurable. So another nice idea would be to pretune 2,3,4,.. specific favorite channels.

Yes, preferrably configurable. And also PiP yes/no configurable. With PiP you can of course only pretune the "next" service. Which, imho, will often be sufficient. I guess the "previous" channel would be the channel you we're watching earlier, not the one that is one up in the list (giving a fast back-and-forth zap experience, but I already to that using PiP anyway ;))
