Offline decode by softcam you need as far I know only ECM record and when you want to use offline decode then the record shouldn't been descrambled at all.

Can you check if the test record in file *.meta has at the end 188 0  (allready descrambled) or 188 1 (not descrambled)

Using the softcam, it works fine. It's the CI that is the issue.

I got a step further, I now tried to do an offline decode of the recording (instead of direct playback), while watching an FTA broadcast. After 10-15sec, a CI message pops up saying I don't have the rights to access the programme, and it doesn't decode. Which is weird, because live there is no access issue to the same channel.

The original recording has "188 1" at the end, the offline decoded file meta has "188 0" at the end, but it is not decoded and doesn't play.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Try follow just as trick. Play a media file and stop the media, you must now stay in the movielist. So you will not go back to TV (left upper window is black). Now start to decode your record (file with meta 188 1). Wait till record is complete done any interruption will fail the descramble.

The hardware must support remux CI and boxes like Xtrend 9*00, 8000 and 10000 doesn't have this option.

I also read that hardwiring does matter, if the CI is hardwired to receive TS not only for tuners but also from memory (DVR) it will work.

So remux is the correct term to use? Or both proper hardwiring and remux CI required?

Doesn't really change anything. It creates a 24-hour timer, it creates a "recording name - decoded" file of about 10 seconds, it doesn't decode anything, and that's it.

Maybe other chip manufactures call it different but Broadcom calls it remux (rmx).

In past the TS signal went first to CI to decode it or bypass (like ET8000/ET10000) and then it arrived by the TS input from the main CPU.
Now-a-days the TS go direct to TS input and use the TS output/rmx port to CI and from CI to a new TS input port when it need to been decode by CI.

The remux, sounds like an TS router. Thanks for the explanation.

Most probably the remux can route to the future?

We will learn once new CI modules based on USB protocol are out (DVB-CI 2.0 http://www.condition...DVB-CI 2.0.pdf ).

PS. Linked pdf, page 4 has a nice diagram, of how CI works.

Tried again my osmini - it not supports offline decoding... how is possible, that your osmini does it ?

All Edision support the CW API.

The osmega was confirmed as offline decoding via softcam, but not CI.

disabled oscam, enabled ECM, enabled Not decoding ... recorded 20 minuts ... enable oscam ... playback without A/V, timescale running very fast ...

Playback this recorded files on next boxes is ok...

What do you mean with "softcam enabled but not active"?

Yeah, I see how that was confusing.

I see two problems:

(1) Record with (soft)cam disabled, playback with softcam enabled: no image. That would suggest that it isn't descrambling, but...
(2) Record with (soft)cam enabled, then the recording has already been descrambled and you can play it back without cam.

My conclusion from (1) and (2) combined is that the ECM setting in the recording just doesn't actually have any effect at all.

Yeah, (2) was reported before.

I believe it depends on how you record it. If you are watching the channel you record, it descrambles so you can watch it, and it will record descrambled. If you watch something else, it will honour the flag and record scrambled. So perhaps it has something to do with the location in the flow where the datastream is "tapped off" for recording.

Do you have some new edisions' firmware in osmini or what ?  Because I tried it many times and no success... only this one box of my boxes not supports it.

It still descrambles, regardless of the setting in the recording, and regardless whether that actually results in something playable. Apparently the whole ECM setting in the recording is being ignored.

No, this is a known issue, and has been for years. It will only work reliably if the receiver is in standby. If watching/recording a service on the same transponder or maybe even the same provider, valid codewords pass the descrambler and then it will do what it does best.

I can see a clear "no" in wiki page regarding osmini, so we are fine! I never mention that osmini can do offline decoding. I said about API.

So that would mean you can never watch something and record at the same time? The box is probably destroying the recording by applying bad controlwords.

On another forum I read this:

Alle CI + modules hebben hun beperkingen, achteraf decoderen lukt hier wel met de ET 8500 en OPENATV, laten aan staan in gewone standby.

Translation: All CI+ modules have limitations, off-line decoding works witht an ET-8500 ana OpenATV, just leave the receiver in standby.
