Is it possible to update this:

https://wiki.openpli...ffline_decoding

f.i. the Mutant HD2400 is mentioned here as supporting off-line decoding via the CI.

I never was able to do this.

Even tried it lately with the latest develop.

No success.

BTW:  off-line decoding with a softcam worked.on this receiver.

VU+ Duo 4K.

Offline decoding via softcam : Unable to test

Offline decoding via CI+ : Yes

However, I think the testing procedure is flawed.

The testing procedure only checks if you can play back the recorded encoding.

In a real-life scenario this is not very useful, it assumes that you will play back the recording very quickly afterwards (before the keys change).

Offline recording is only really useful if you can have the recording decoded, so that you can play it back whenever you like.

If I test it with this way, the answer is

Offline decoding via CI+ : No for OpenPLi, but Yes for VTI.

It works for you?
And if you select a recording in the Movie list and then choose Menu -> start offline decoding (or similar). Does that work?

BOX : Mutant HD51

Supports offline decoding via softcam: Yes
Supports offline decoding via CI: No

I assume nothing has changed?

So using a single-stream CI module makes it impossible to watch one channel and record another for decoding later?

This will not work on this type of box... As the HD51 does not support hardware-wise offline decoding via CI....

Or I am doing something wrong or offline decoding is broken... tried it with softcam on H7, vs1500, e4hd ... nothing ...  (I haven't tried to see if it blocked mode12 or no)

There is very few hardware that can do it, most can't.

  1. You need to be able to record with ECM's, and without decryption on recording
  2. On playback, the data needs to be injected in the hardware pipeline before the CI (and the softcam)
  3. the ECM's must not have expired when you play it back

I have just tested this on my VU+ Solo 4K.

Made a recording with recording settings set to record ECM's and do not decrypt, and with the CI module disabled. This makes a valid recording with ECM's.

When I re-enable the CI module, I can play back the recording without issues ( it takes a few seconds before the CI starts decrypting ).

The same recording doesn't play back on the Qviart Dual 4K (with a softcam, no CI), it skips directly to the end. The SF8008 does playback at normal speed, but also doesn't decrypt (again, softcam only).

I tried it with softcam on H7, vs1500

ad 1) recorded with ECM and without decrypt

ad 2) It probably doesn't matter to me, imho

ad 3) it is how long ?

In our wiki are this both boxes as working with softcam. But no success for me... Tried recording in standby via timer too, same...

1. First you have to make sure the recording has ECM's and isn't decrypted. This in itself is a challenge as you can't see it. In my previous tests I saw cases where a recording from box A didn't play on box B, but the other way around worked fine.

2. is dictated by the hardware design and/or drivers, we don't have any control over it. Enigma just use the ioctl to push the data in.

3, depends very much on the CI / smartcard used.

I just trying recording with ECM and without decrypt on the Dual 4K, but the result doesn't play back either. It also doesn't play this recording back on the Solo 4K. Weird with this recording is that although the .ts file is 140533760 bytes, Enigma says it's 0 bytes.

This only works on limited hardware and indeed also only works when the ecms are not expired yet. For the latest encryption methods they expire within a day which makes for a lot of providers if you have the proper hardware already not usuable..:
