Another thing that occurs with 6.0rc: Sometimes the OSD goes missing from the TV set. (no volume bar, no menues...) And it won't re-appear unless E2 is restarted. In the WEB interface everything is still visible.

@Stan,

I have never experienced the mentioned issue. Perhaps it's a skin specific issue. I use the PLi full night or the PLi full HD skin and never any other.

What skin do you use?

I am using the 6.0 rc image "as is", with the default skin (PLI-FullNightHD).

I also experienced the missing OSD when I was installing the image from NAS using the "Automatic Full Backup" plugin. I could not see the install wizard (language selection, etc.), only the boot logo.

I have just selected another UI language and after the recommended restart of E2 there is again no OSD on TV.

Two issues regarding the mediaplayer:

  • The behaviour of the Exit button does not follow the configuration.
  • Some media files cannot be paused (mp3, flac...), they just stop.

1. I also experienced the missing OSD when I was installing the image from NAS using the "Automatic Full Backup" plugin. I could not see the install wizard (language selection, etc.), only the boot logo.

-> When restore-settings.sh and autoinstall.sh is used you do not see a wizard. Try to install without using full backup.... After the image is flashed you see after the first boot shortly a message box where you can select 'No' for setting-restore/auto install. Then you should see the install wizard.

2. I have just selected another UI language and after the recommended restart of E2 there is again no OSD on TV.

->After changing the language the UI should restart...

3. The behaviour of the Exit button is not saved.

->What do you mean...

4. Some media files cannot be paused (mp3, flac...), they just stop.

-> It seems Extrend may have some driver related issue regards mp3/flac

It might be you have issues with the OSD due to a backup restored e.g. from a foreign image....

There are also dvb-t2 boxes available which can playback h265 with max full hd. E.g. Os mini plus. So not necessarily 4K boxes only.
And yes, your formuler can't do it.

ok it depends of cpu & gpu power. thanks

No, the GPU isn't used for this. Neither is the CPU. It's the dedicated DVB hardware in the SoC.

Can you check the driver version? The last driver update for the Xtrends 1gen and 2gen wasn't really an improvement...

ET9000 driver version 3.8.7+20130524-r0.0
I suppose it is the same as used in OpenPli 4.0.

@littlesat

  1. Is this a problem of the "Automatic Full Backup" plugin then?
  2. I changed the language from Deutsch to English, restarted the UI and then had no OSD.
  3. The setting "Allow quit movieplayer with Exit" is being ignored.
  4. Maybe the pause problem is the same as reported by other users on other boxes.  (gstreamer issue?)

it's a known issue (for me at least) - had this on my et9500 since some OE update last year on openpli5 / develop images:

I have (possibly related?) GUI issue with et9500 + overscan wizzard + openpli5

after using overscan wizzard GUI disappears from tv (immediately or on the next reboot/e2 restart)
however in openwebif when I grab a screenshot it is still present

to restore the GUI on tv I need to:
1) perform a cold boot, or
2) from openwebif run overscan wizzard again

tested also on et9500 running openpli4 and this problem didn't occur (although overscan screen was displyed under some semi-transparent layer /?/)
on vuzero/openpli5 - no problem

looks like a driver in connection with some updated OE package (gcc5 most probably?) issue,

I was able to easily trigger this using overscan test screen,

you can test this: when your osd is missing, run overscan wizard using openwebif remote and voilà, osd is back...

for me the problem was that overscan apparently tended to re-appear spontaneously after e2/box restart from time to time, hence osd randomly got lost, so I just uninstalled videotune plugin, and that helped...

I am noticing that on occasions when selecting a channel on another satellite for my dish to move to, there is no signal. I need to move up or down one channel and back again to get a signal. This doesn't happen every time.

This is with VU Ultimo 4K.

no volume bar,

Couldn't this be related to overscan?

You are right, the overscan wizard brings back the OSD.

However, uninstalling the videotune plugin does not make any difference. The problem persists.

You need to solve it with a setting on your TV... not your E2 box....

precary soc, formuler1 one. transcode is by sofware, not through soc... so bad election to buy a formuler1, and it was still not a year ago... what a pity...

No. The E2 OSD fails to show on TV. It is visible though in openwebif.

As blzr stated above, you can trigger this fault on the ET9x00 using the overscan wizard.

I don't have my et9500 anymore to test, but IIRC for me worked something like this:
1) 'restore' osd using overscan wizard from openwebif
2) restart e2, make sure osd is still present (!)
3) uninstall videotune plugin (that includes overscan screen)
4) restart e2, cross your fingers ;)

actually I was never able to trigger osd dissapearance without overscan wizard, so for me after above problem was gone, but...

I have uninstalled videotune, but the overscan wizard is still there.

Apart from that, the OSD failure occured also when I changed the UI language...

It's probably a deeper problem that needs to be analyzed.

AFAIK the F1 wasn't advertised supporting trancoding.
