And that's probably the reason ATV created one HbbTV plugin that runs on all boxes?

It would be nice if they open sourced/shared it then, so everybody can use it (just like OpenPLi shares everything with everybody)..

True, and I think that's the case as ATV is Open Source (but not sure); worth a good look.

We offer openopera aswell.... but this is of course not running on the ARM boxes....  And in addition the most important thing inside is a binary closed source blob....

You are wrong. Hbbtv from OpenATV is not open source (yet).

Yes, but I'm not talking about OpenOpera.

OpenOpera is looks the same as Extrend's Opera HbbTV plugin. I just observe one small differnce.... The genuine checks and timebombs are not there,,,h

So I have the impression open here is not for the source... But open stands for no limitation for Extrend only and time...

@Littlesat: thanks for the -1 Guido; you're motivating and stimulating as ever :(
But you're quite clear: I'll stop trying to think ahead.

I find that strange as it is part of the OE-A, so any receiver that has support can install the qthbbtv plugin, in any of the OE-A images. Whilst OpenPli is not part of the OE-A surely it must be easy for Openpli to install??

1- I found no way to install ATV's HbbTV-plugin in ViX & PLi

2- That plugin holds a hidden file (at least I wasn't able to trace it) that allows it to be installed on other images.

Yep.

The file I referred to is:

Source: git://github.com/oe-alliance/oe-alliance-plugins.git;protocol=git;branch=2.3 file://0001-enable-hbbtv-for-all-boxes.patch

I wasn't able to locate that file.

I suggest that file is on their build server...

Sounds like openATV doesn't care about the GPL licenses at this moment....

But I'm sure you let us know when you are capable of finding a work-a-round.... ;)

your mentioned 0001-enable-hbbtv-for-all-boxes.patch simply adds subdir HbbTV from oe-alliance-plugins in makefile of oe-alliance-plugins.

-SUBDIRS = Blindscan...
+SUBDIRS = HbbTV Blindscan...

not much voodoo there.

Well, the vodoo is in the fact that the file is hidden.
Why not make this universal plugin 'Open Source' (which would do right to the name OPEN-ATV in the first place)?

Or even better: add it to the Open E2 plugins repos.
