There is a description for PLS in page 28 to 33 here: http://www.etsi.org/...307v010201p.pdf

Although it doesn't mention root or combo explicitly.

As far as I know there is only one S2X transponder on the entire geostationary arc. 33E 12621 V 10057 25/36. Opens no problem on the Octagon.

@Erik, PLS modes are Root, Gold, and Combo. Any channel which is Root can be converted to Gold by changing PLS code, and vice versa. But not with Combo mode. Currently the only device that can open Combo mode on enigma2 is the TBS USB tuner. Also, as far as I know there is only one transponder transmitting in Combo mode on the entire arc, which is on Hispasat 30W.

Don't confuse Multistream with S2X...

Yes, that's the one I read.

Yes like we said before.

The tuners now marketed as S2X are just S2 tuners that have optional S2 extensions implemented. So it is S2-extended, but not S2X.

Those tuners marked as S2X won't even play multistream, let alone S2X muxes. I think currently the SF4008, HD51, and Dreambox are the only tuners that can play multistream.

Which "S2X" marked tuners are you talking about then? I only know of hd51 and zgemma (which feature the same Si tuner).

Ok, we are at cross purposes then. Some tuners from Vu+ are marked S2X.

Multistream is also the pluggable Serit tuner from Gigablue. But only multistream (and maybe not combo 30W capable).

They have enable support for CAN_MULTISTREAM in their drivers few months now (I think once 4.8.3 kernel released).

I know they do, but VU+ has already admitted they're marked incorrectly.

We don't support Gigablue receivers (as of yet).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Tuner in SF4008 is SI21662, so same tuner chip.

SI2166* is demod and the HD51 has a better tuner the RT720. It's actuallly the first dvb s2x compatible tuner/frontend.

So is the DVB-S2X tuner available in HD51 the same as SF4008 or different?

The new revision that Mutant uses is a bit faster and slightly more sensitive. It also supports both long and short DVB-S2 modes (as I read).

The new tuner revision? Is it marked different? Is it still Si2166?

You ask this yourself above and got the answer, SF4008 has Si21662-D60, Mutant has Si2166-D60.

Thanks.

I understand the difference between them is the fact that Si21662-D60 is a dual tuner while Si2166-D60 is a single tuner.

Correct?

Si2166-D60 is actually a dual tuner (I don't own the receiver, I just ask people that do) with a single input (connected internally). The truth of the matter is that I'm very interested in it, I might give it a go! Plus there's a new rumour flying that they will be the ones that will actually bring blindscan (other than DM) to the table! Let's see!

As much as I like the HD51 (I sold my Sf4008 - end of comment), the S2x tuner only provides (at least currently) one tuner path.
