Just to let you know that based on the puhvogel plugin OpenPLi have created this repository. I have already bring some improvements and all screens are now Full HD.

OscamStatusView as alternative, for free (well, with nag screens), it uses curl, i think it is only for mipsel, with curl arm binary should work on arm boxes

I think that OscamStatusView plugin grab the OScam Webif while OscamStatus is using the Oscam API.

Afaik because of that it also needs the "modern" interface, which is deprecated by Oscam and not available with the Oscam in our feed.

I give a try and there is no comparison between both plugins, OscamStatus uses the OScam API and gives much more detailed informations, you can access nearly all possible informations available within OScam, check the ECM time, you can performed some action on OScam, like enabling/disabling readers or users...

While to use OscamStatusViewer I need to cheat it with a symlink because the curl version provide is for mipsel and not ARM and the path is harcoded in source code, so even if curl is installed it is not used. It grab the OScam homepage and reproduce it on screen with very limited possible actions. So indeed there is a check on it and you cannot use the OScam interface that you want.

 

So the .ipk file is wrongly name -all- it should be -mips-

 

OscamStatusViewer is not OpenSource and prompts you for Paypal...

Why would one want to include an os binary in an ipk, instead of adding a dependency to the control file. Looks very amateuristic.

Shouldn't we remove the 3rd party equivalent of this plugin?

Yes, but I wanted to wait until everything works ok, and it is also available in 6.2-release. 

 

There is no direct conflict, due to the bumped version, the version our feed is used before the 3rdparty one...

I want to draw your attention on the fact that the former plugin provides the source code (.py) in the package, while the new version only provide the .pyo files.

So if people perform an online update of the plugin I fear that they will get still stuck into the old version because the .py file will be rebuilded at boot and replace the new version .pyo so they won't take advantages of the new version. But I am not a package expert so I don't know how it will behaves when willing to switch from old to new version with just an online update.

I don't think that is the case.

 

If both the py and pyo are under package management, opkg will remove them both when upgrading. The advantage of package management is that you don't simply copy, but keep track of what is installed.

 

edit: Just upgraded a test box, and I only have pyo's.

You think so? Just look at the way the skins (especially the HD-screens) have been made; that is really rubbish (amateurism).

You think so? Just look at the way the skins (especially the HD-screens) have been made; that is really rubbish (amateurism).

 

 

I agree with you I know nothing in skin and I dislike it.

My major contribution is the autodetect feature and the add of the provider ID information and then seeing the result I adapt the skin to full HD with my poor knowledge of it but I use the same method as the original skin, it is not a full review of it so my method is not more amateuristic than the original one.

But feel free to contribute and make the skin self adapting to the screen resolution, it will be really interesting for how you will achieve this with the master of the art way of skinning.

I think we need to ‘rename’ the new plugin into openoscamstatus... so it does not ‘fight’ with the 3rd party version.

 

The original was already open and clearly state that we can modify it like we want.
