I tried to mount my NAS-folders via NFS on my Windows 8.1 system, but with no result.

First I found out that native Windows support for NFS is only included in the Enterprise version.  Sorry, but I do not have that version.

Som I needed 3rd party software to do this.  Tried:

ms-nfs41-client-setup-x64  (https://www.cohortfs...ows-nfs-clients and https://github.com/c...s-nfs41-client)

Always reported: path not found.  Whatever I tried.

NFSClient:  Connects as lighting.  However it cannot assign a drive letter to the connection.  Everything has to be done in their File Explorer.  This is not what I wanted.

http://www.softpedia...FS-Client.shtml

NFSAxe:  has a 30 minutes trial period.  Can not even evaluate it in that time.

Does anybody know a way to implement NFS on Windows (8.1).  No Enterprise edition pls.

Willy

I have no experience with Windows but I found this: https://www.cohortfs...ows-nfs-clients

Perhaps this will work for you?

2 x ultimo4k (dvb-c fbc + 1 dvb-s2, 8.3r/nb) + een et10k/osmini (geen tuners en dus fallbackclient, nb) met een Synology ds214+ (2 x 6 TB) op DSM 7.1.1 in ziggo oost (voormalig @Home) + A1/A2/A3/HB (TechniSat)

That is ms-nfs41-client-setup-x64  what I tried.

And this the result:

D:\Download\ms-nfs41-client-master>nfs_mount.exe U: 192.168.178.30:\volume1\EPG
WNetUseConnection(U:, \\192.168.178.30\volume1\EPG) failed with error code 3.
Het systeem kan het opgegeven pad niet vinden.

And I am sure the path is correct, and the permissions set correctly - UBUNTU can find this with no problem.

And for one of my enigma2 receivers:

D:\Download\ms-nfs41-client-master>nfs_mount.exe U: 192.168.178.19:/
WNetUseConnection(U:, \\192.168.178.19\) failed with error code 3.
Het systeem kan het opgegeven pad niet vinden.

Yes, but this a nfs server for sharing you windows drives via NFS to linux.  Not the otherway around.

That I am doing at the moment.  I thought I give NFS a go since I have problems with losing the cifs mounts on windows by occasion.

I tried NekoDrive.  This sorts of works.

In contradiction with the docs you need Dokan 0.7.4 for this.

2 problems:

1. I managed to mount only one drive.  Could not find how to mount more than one.

2. Nekodrive (or Dokan) made a real mess of the CIFS mounts, and in view of the first observation, I still need those.  If I could mount more than 1 drive (folder) via NFS it would not be a problem, but now I still need those.

It takes no further explanation that NekoDrive and Dokan are removed already.

The mess of the CIFS mounts was so severe, and I could not repair it.

So, I resorted to restoring to a previous recovery point.  (Which is the first time I ever have to use it).

Shoot me if I ever try this again.

a.) Who put a rifle at your head to make you use Windows 8.x?

After Windows 2000, you have to skip every 2nd version: Windows 2000 -> Windows XP -> Skip Fistula -> Windows 7 -> Skip n8mare -> Windows 10.

b.) Use SMB/Samba

Shoot me if I ever try this again.

It started even earlier than that. W95 wasn't all that, W98 was an improvement, NT wasn't much again, only with W2K it became usable. ;)

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I have never used the Wintendo9x series of games, at least not in the usual meaning.

CP/M -> DR DOS 3.41 -> DR DOS 5.0 -> DR DOS 6.0 -> IBM OS/2 2.0 -> IBM OS/2 2.1 -> IBM OS/2 Warp 3.0 -> IBM OS/2 Warp 4.0 -> IBM OS/2 Warp Server for e-business -> Microsoft Windows 2000

Well, actually I had a triple boot environment (IBM OS/2 Warp 4, Windows 98SE, Windows NT 4.0), but I spent 99,9% of the time on OS/2.
I only booted NT to burn CDs (Because OS/2 was the logical precedessor of Linsuxx: If it didn't work in OS/2, the others just made it wrong. Audio CDs burned with OS/2 software were just crap and nobody cared to fix that) and Windows 98SE was just there because I could.

With the advent of Windows 2000, even the hardest fans started to leave and the programmers took their software with them (ported them to Windows).
I'm still using "PMView" as picture viewer on Windows, where "PM" inherits from "Presentation Manager", the name of the OS/2 2.x GUI.
