If I have a box with 2 DVB-C tuners on one OpenPli box and I have another OpenPli box that is not connected to DVB-C. Can I somehow watch the channels on the one box without DVB-C box from the box with 2 tuners. That I somehow use one tuner over network at my home

1) you can use fallback tuner (before it copy lamedb and bouquet to box without connection

2) you can use partnerbox plugin

3) you can use Remotestreamconvert plugin

Which one of these 3 gives the best quality and most stable?

What do you recommend?

same quality...

use 1. May be, do not copy files/bouquets, but plug cable and scan programs on this box. Then fill fallback and use it without cable...

Not sure I understand how to do it, do I need to lugin the cable to the DVB-C tuner and after that fill fallback?

How do I fill the fallback info, is there any documentation or wiki how to do this?

Cheers

Just use remotestreamconverter, it's really simple. Supply your credentials for the "master"-box, select the bouqet(s) you want to use on your "slave"-box and there you are!

No cable(s) needed for your "slave"-box.

After installing remotestreamconverter you can find the setup here: <menu> -> <setup> -> <service searching>

In the end all three methods use the same underlying mechanism. Just the user interface is different. Option #1 is a bit of work to start with but after that completely transparent.

That can be, but I still do not understand how "fallback tuner" works and I know how "remotestreamconverter" works.

Quite a bit other people do seem to manage, so apparently it's not exactly rocket science ;)

Yes, I know but in my case I'm not interested in this "fallback tuner" thing, it's too complicated for me to setup.

There are allways people that are smarter than me. :)

Hi,

Fallback tuner is really easy to use:

- The STB which is connected to DVB cable is the master

- On the slave (the one without any cable) you need to define the STB Master IP in the Fallback tuner option in OpenPLi

- Copy your channel list on the slave (lamedb and userbouquet) and that's all. (and if no cable is connected you can disable every tuner on the slave).

On your master system, if a tuner is available to serve the slave request the image will be displayed on the slave. If no tuner is available the screen will remains black of course.

The main advantage of OpenPLi fallback tuner implementation is when both STB have DVB cable connected, when all the tuners on a STB are used it will then automatically try to use the fallback tuners.

With remotestream converter you need to handle this "fallback" yourself selecting the right favorite.

The only thing which is missing in OpenPLi remote fallback is the option to be able to import on the slave favorites from the master (like remotestream does).

There isn't anything to setup? Only the IP address of the "server" box has to be configured, the rest works complete transparently.

Hi - would it be possible to configure 2 ( or max 3 ) fallback tuners? Question basically if this would require lots of (re)programming or just a few lines ?

Idea is if the first fallback tuner does not work, skip to the next one ( eg one box has DVB-S2 only while the other has DVB-C only ).

Just seen code to try and do that added to one of the other images (looks for blank IP in fallback tuner)  and then finds a box on the network, haven't tried it so don't know how effective. .. I don't think it retries if the selected fails.

Its impossible using the current setup. It's a fallback as in "last resort". At the point where the fallback tuner kicks in, there is no easy way to go and try a bunch of remote servers/services.

1) you can use fallback tuner (before it copy lamedb and bouquet to box without connection

2) you can use partnerbox plugin

3) you can use Remotestreamconvert plugin

or you can use ChannelsImporter plugin see post #8 here http://forums.openpl...k-channel-list/
