Basta inserire. Se i piconi sono nella cartella / picon e sono in un formato che OpenPLi capisce, funzionerà correttamente.

Just plug in in. If the picons are in the /picon folder, and are in a format OpenPLi understands, it will just work.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Grazie per la risposta, i picons sono 100x60 ma non funzionano... ciao

With OpenPLi - from memory - sometimes if I plug in another USB device and the STB needs to be restarted (so automount is done), I found problems with Automounting, as it may change the mounts and mess up my configuration, thereby creating various problems in the process...

I always maintain that Automount should be abolished and a good Device Manager introduced, so one mounts one's USB devices the way one needs them to be... (Sadly, PowerBoard is gone and its images covered such needs famously...)

Yes, very well possible.

USB device mount points are dynamically determined, and the first USB device will be mounted on /media/usb. And unfortunately you can't control the sequence in which devices are detected upon boot.

As to the automount, the entire network stack of Enigma needs to be rewritten, and that includes the way (network) devices are mounted.

Thank you, WW!

I am but an IT lay person, however I am using E2 for a long time and from a lot of experience I can tell what is and what is not working - I suspected as much...

My latest problems now seem easier to understand... :)

The current alternative is get the block-id of your devices, and define them in /etc/fstab, so you can determine exactly where to mount them. But that defeats the purpose of having hot-plug devices.

Perhaps autofs is a solution, it will be present, including a GUI for managing it, in 6.0.

No, misunderstanding. Let's be clear...

1) auto-detect should stay

2) auto-mount should not be active

3) good Device Manager (a rare beast, to be sure!) should be there to:

-initialise/partition (single, 2 4 partitions - with ratios to match most configurations)

-format (FAT32, EXT3, EXT4 and so on)

-mount (as hdd, hdd1, hdd2, usb, usb1, usb2, cf etc.)

-SWAP creation and management

-Flash Extender (if possible)

(I also noticed certain problems in some images when it comes to conversion EXT3 > EXT4.

Also, with some File System Checking... Just mentioning.)

My point is: it is better to have options, so that user is not "guided" by the all knowing coder but one can setup one's system according to one's needs.

And you are right, of course: FSTAB mounting should be one of the options in Device Manager, when mounting.

Do you think unifying "mounting" is a good thing? As in, for the Device Manager to become Mount Manager and carry not only USB/eSATA or internally plugged devices but also the network connected devices?

Namely, hitherto we have used the Device Manager to mount directly connected devices, actually partitions, whereas in Network mounting we have mounted home network connected shared folders.

Would that create some confusion of perhaps streamline the operations to properly setup one's system? In the end, both should be FSTAB mounted, for sure.

Btw, I consider this to be the basis of a well organised, non-patronising, versatile, more capable Enigma2.

And yes, what I described above used to exist, alas no more... :(

Cheers! :)

I haven't started thinking about the functionality, it all needs to be worked out. It needs to address local mounting, network mounting, network detection, streaming detection (fallback tuner / remote converter / vtuner), IPv6 support, etc. It is quite a list, we shouldn't forget most of this stuff in the image is 10+ years old.

I mean, this is major stuff changing and the Q will be - how exactly, of course... ;)

If you label the device, the box will use the label as mountpoint name (even before OpenPLi4). That will give predictable mount names and you won't have to mess around with fstab.
