If I remember correctly, the option (link) auto-enables itself if shellinabox is present. .. resp. disables itself if it is not.
So the missing shellinaboxd should be the only reason.

I remembered correctly:

https://github.com/E...0ac94d95cd98a06

if os.path.exists('/usr/bin/shellinaboxd') and (fileExists(resolveFilename(SCOPE_PLUGINS, "Extensions/OpenWebif/controllers/views/ajax/terminal.tmpl")) or fileExists(resolveFilename(SCOPE_PLUGINS, "Extensions/OpenWebif/controllers/views/ajax/terminal.pyo"))):
			extras.append({ 'key': 'ajax/terminal','description': _('Terminal')})
So OpenPLi only lacks the shellinaboxd itself (And an RRECOMMEND in its OWIF-Package), in oe-a we made a meta-package "openwebif-terminal" which then RDEPENDS on shellinaboxd.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'll have a look at it when I'm back home and have access to my buildserver again.

I think what we have now is fine... we only need to add something to clear the password, so you can restore it via telnet. And actually you do need a password at all. It is better to use keys without a password..

It's not, because it needs telnet to set an initial password for ssh.

Besides that, 99.9999% of all people, if not more, think about this when you mention keys:

If we find this interesting, we could add it to develop. Only just not for this purpose.

As telnet is not supported anymore in MacOS High Sierra you can use netclient instead (integrated in High Sierra)
For people who do not want to install brew tools

nc <ip_of_your_box> 23

or maybe copy telnet binary from Sierra to High Sierra in folder usr/local/bin and change attribute to 755

The well known user-friendlyness of Mac ...

Telnet was removed from Windows default install x versions ago (I think in XP already), but you could simply install it manually using "Add/remove features" ... and still can in Windows 10.

I would recommend ZOC ...

That's one of the few programs from OS/2 times I'm still using.

ZOC is a professional ssh client and terminal emulator. With its impressive list of emulations and features, it is a reliable and elegant tool that connects you to hosts and mainframes via secure shell, telnet, serial cable and other methods of communication.

I use it for SSH and serial access to all of my boxes, servers, ...

btw nc = netcat, not netclient.
