Hi

From long time I met periodically crashes  of Enigma2 on my VU Solo2. I correlated it with overload of STB. For example two channels recorded and third thing watched from HDD. As it turned out it was original cooling system issue. When I touched heatsink I almost scald. It was extremely hot. Working fan in the rear wall of chassis had completely no impact on temperature.

So I have bought cheap massive aluminium heatsing on polish "ebay" style allegro.pl for $1.5. Then I removed original heatsink and termopads. I put new termopads on sides of CPU and termoglue Termopox (7W/mK). I also glued heatsink to card and CI case with poxipol. I also moved FAN to heatsink. And I also needed to remove original SATA socket and just solder SATA cables, because socket collided with heatsink.

Effect is cool literally and figuratively. FAN working on 2128RPM gives temp 29 C. When STB is overloaded temp is about 36C.

I must add that FAN is a must. Without fan my new heatsink is not able to cool CPU passively.

I suggest this upgrade to all Solo2 users.
