Openembedded is the old name of the Yocto distribution, but it is still widly used. So it is a linux distro, like Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo or Fedora.

ok now i know (from openatv forum by @Captain) if you press and hold the power button (15 seconds) to reboot the box it's not so good for the box it's the same as you
use the power switch on the box directly and that's not so good for the filesystem permanently.
so @Erik is right and it's the best if you use telnet and init 6 if access with telnet is possible.

In this case Captain is (mostly) correct. IIRC you can configure enigma to shutdown nicely when you're holding the off button for a few seconds. That's something different than the VU+ feature where holding the button for 10 seconds will power cycle the SoC.

We've been discussing about a separate process ("daemon") that would listen for certain keypresses and shutdown or reboot the receiver nicely on demand. This is possible. But on the other hand, we'd rather resolve problems than workaround them.

E2 currently opens the input devices in exclusive mode. So no daemon process can open them. I don't know why e2 does it. For me it makes no sense.
I have already written such a daemon some time ago. Unfortunately it didn't work on all boxes. It seems some drivers can't handle that 2 processes listen at the same time for key presses.

I've looked up to use a script to shutdown the Vu+ from the phone but I haven't found anything simple. I have to look for a Telnet script on Google store. Perhaps there is one.

Easiest is via the web interface: http://box/web/powerstate?newstate=1 (if that still works).

Is it a link ? Or have I to replace "box" with it's IP address ? I can't try it now, it records a motorbike race .

 

And I should want to launch the command from the phone. It's quicker than starting the PC .

You have to replace "box" with IP or DNS name of the box, whatever you have. Every phone has a browser, create a shortcut for it.

you didn't need a script because if you have configure it complete and correct and you need it if your box hangs then you only start the app

, press the right button to connect to your box, and if the connection is ready you only need the command init 6, then confirm and it's done - that's all.

Ok I shall try your solutions but as I have already said, "init 6" doesn't work, only "shutdown -r -n now" (if I remember well).

I hope there is no problem to switch off the box when it's on a TV channel. Otherwise it's impossible to switch it off .

I've phoned to a friend who have an Ultimo 4 K and VTI and when he stops a movie when it's in 4X, it returns to the list of film without any problem. Then it' seems it's not a driver problem but a Pli problem. Isn't it?

I just tested your scenario on my Ultimo 4K but unfortunately (for you) I can't confirm what you experienced. I tested several different movies and speeds and stopped playing with the stop button. In my situation live TV starts without any problem. I haven't tried just stopping the movies without returning to live watching TV.

Does this mean that it’s some other strange issue, but definitely a non OpenPLi related issue?
Whatever I try, I can’t reproduce the issue you mention.

As I explained previously, if I stop and go to the live TV, there is no problem, but if I stop and go to the list of movies, it "crashes". Lupus have the same problem. Have you tested this option ?

 

I've flashed a Pli 4.0 and a Pli 6.0 with a few settings (language...) and plugins (skin...) and it also "crashes".
