If you buy a car, you want it to be reliable whether it has 2, 3 or 4 cylinders. Then I don't care which components are in the box, I only want it runs well and doesn't crash or hang every day or several times a day as I have since I use this Ultimo.

 

When I bought the Et9000, it was new and it didn't crash.

 

I don't know why but every time I have a product, I find very quickly the bugs or deficiencies. Perhaps because I don't have a basic use and want to use all the possibilities. Now I also want to record from HDMI In and it doesn't work while I've bought this box also to use this capacity.

A few years ago I bought a Volkswagen Tiguan with a Diesel engine and it was involved in the infamous Dieselgate.

 

So the situation might be the same also for cars..

 

Anyway, I have a Vu+ Solo4K with no problems like yours, maybe you should have bought a Solo4K...

Your car was involved in the Dieselgate but it worked well, isn't it? It didn't hangs as my box. If nobody spoke about this Dieselgate "problem", you would not have known .

 

Perhaps the Solo is better but how can I knew there were so much problems with my box? And I bought it because it has some capacities the Solo has not. When you bought your Tiguan, if you have discovered at this moment you can only have 2 persons in the car, you wouldn't be happy, isn't it?

I can understand your disappointment, but as you wrote you tested your box with BH and apparently you didn't have that problem.

 

Moreover you might check if the problem occurs also running the original Vu+ image.

 

If not occurring with those images, this can't be considered a Vu+ fault, and Vu+ itself can't be blamed, can't it?

 

Going on with the car analogy, if I had modified my Tiguan's computerized control unit and the car would have failed or crashed, this wouldn't be a Volkswagen fault...

Yes a French friend said me I can download vuplus-image from Vu+. I shall try it this week-end I think. It can be a Pli problem but Erik was sure it's a Vu+ driver problem and effectively i have less problems with the new ones.

 

The CPU car is not really a good comparison because it's the car brain, Pli is not the brain, it's an overlay. If the brain is strong, an overlay can't crash the system . Excel for example can't crash Windows .

From the point of view of the user, Pli like any other image (or installed plugins) can actually make the box apparently crash or freeze.

Yes unfortunately but it's the the "price to pay" (I don't know if it's understandable in other languages) to have a very good and evolutive interface .

you're not alone, i have testet my ultimo 4k with vti image and openatv image also and with all images incl. openpli this box have problems

the most problems (crashes) i had with vti images, the least problems with openpli image.

 

if you have a look in other forums like vti or openatv you can find more than a few users they are always have crashes with this box too.

 

ps: better you forget the hdmi-in record with this box also.

Thank you very much Biki for your response, I had the impression to be alone .

 

This night, I put the service on a TNT service while the box was recording and it didn't crash . Almost a miracle .

 

For The HDMI In, I'm going to buy another device while when I bought this box, I thought it was able to do it. It's a pity to have so many problems. This box doesn't keep its promises .

And another crash yesterday when I was recording . I was happy Tuesday because I hadn't any crash (or hang) but I did the minimum of operations to see a recorded movie, but yesterday, I changed  services several times and I went in Movie Player to search files. But this time it restarted alone.

 

I thought there was only a problem while recording OTT service, but it also crashes with satellite channels and yesterday, I recorded TNT service.

 

I have to do tests this week-end to find how to reproduce it systematically.

my box hangs also now in other situation as i start a playback of .ts record, but it's sporadic and not with crash, only the spinner loads forever.

i must look if i can reproduce it.

but maybe it's here because i use bluetooth remote control.

Yesterday I was looking at a movie recorded, another record started, I finished to see my movie and when I wanted to put the box in standby with the front button, it "hanged" .

I've bought a bluetooth remote control as well, received it yesterday, so if that's the cause, we'll know soon enough I guess

I see all sorts of complaints, again, but, again, no dmesg output. That doesn't help.

I can't reproduce them unless I can launch dmeg output when the spinner runs. And it's a driver problem, you can't do anything, you said it .

 

I've tried a lot to reproduce them but the box doesn't want to "hang", but when I don't want it hangs, it hangs quickly and destroys my current recordings .

 

It's most predictable with the previous drivers, I can use the box yesterday with no hangs. And it hangs only when the box is recording. i haven't any Bluetooth device. I think my Logitech remote is infrared.

Yes, it's a driver problem. But if we want to have it fixed, the manufacturer will need to know what's wrong. I assume that is why you keep complaining. Complaining for the complaining won't fix anything. So let's give them the information then.

If you want I write them, I shall write them as I wrote to describe the HDMI problem. I've found how to write them for bug report and I shall do it again. I can't reproduce the bug but I can describe precisely what I did before it crashed.

 

If you want I give a dmesg report, respond to my question : when the box hangs with the spinner, I can connect with Telnet to the box, can I launch the dmesg process at this moment? Even if I'm not enthusiastic to loose other records if I install again the last drivers .

You could always try, even without my consent...

 

The question is: do you want to have this fixed or not. I can't reproduce it over here.

As this problem occurs only for a few users and not for others, and when watching recordings, could it be possible that there is some incompatibility with the hard disk?
