Hi and be gentle with me I am a new person to the forum and OpenPLI I normally use another variant but have become interested in OpenPLI and have bought a Formuler F1 to test out things.  The unit works perfectly with the other two supported images OpenVIX and OpenATV but when I flash either version 4 or 6 latest of both I get an error on setup telling me I am not connected to the network and when tested it passes the first test but fails the next part passes DHCP check and then fails the remaining 3 tests.  As I have said using another image and everything works perfectly but I have tested by using a static IP still no joy but if I set the port on my switch to 100mbps it works?  I bought the unit because it is gigabit capable and when using another image the unit quite happily sits connected at gigabit without any outside interference from me so I am asking is there a problem with the driver being used?

Any help or replies would be most gratefully received,

Jimmy

Never had this issue, so I can't comment. Currently travelling, so I can't check with OpenPLi 6.0 until the end of the month.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Is there anyway someone else (developer) could try this as I am concerned that I have an issue with the box and I need someone else to try and see if they get the same results as the seller World of Satellite says quite rightly (but maybe not actual) that if the issue is only with one image it is the image and not the hardware?

There is nothing special about our image compared to other images. We all use OpenEmbedded linux, and we all use the same SoC drivers (which are dated 20161005, so not changed in over a year).

There is also nothing in the image that sets a port speed. The speed of the PHY is determined based on auto-negotiation (exchanging capabilities) with the switch, software doesn't play a part in that. Obviously, if you start disabling the auto-neg settings on the switch and configuring fixed speeds (whether it is 10Mbps, 100Mbps or 1Gbps), this mechanism no longer works, and you also need to set the PHY to a fixed speed (for which we don't provide a GUI interface).

Thank you for your reply WanWizard I am at a loss then why two other images work fine but OpenPLI just does not!  Maybe you read incorrectly the only way I could get the receiver to see a network was to set the switch port down to 100mbs if I left it auto neg then it would simply would not work and hence my question about the drivers.

You might want to check the version of the drivers that are in the other images.

Guess what? OE-A also has non-public, non-manufacturer drivers for the Formulers, like the Xtrend 2nd gen boxes...

Having said that, I've been using a Formuler 1 for a year on a daily basis, some time ago, and never had network problems, always stable 1 Gbps.

Hi there,

the same issue with the Formuler F1 I bought last week and the latest openPLI 6.0 here. Connected via Cat5e-cable to a Fritzbox 7360v1. DHCP or static doesn't make a difference for me, no network. As if the lan-port would be defective/dead, but works ok, with no issues with every other E2-image I tested so far. Maybe something is missing, possibly a driver? Things are quite limited when you're using an E2-Receiver without a working network configuration... ;)

Any ideas, any help would be highly appreciated! Thank you!

Humor?

I got the deepest respect for Captain's work.
Coding a Bitcoin miner into a kernel module using Turbo Pascal is a quite complicated task!

The Opel commercial. ;) :)

TurboPascal? Nah, most "programmers" are using something like Visual Basic these days. Pascal at least forces one to write rather proper code.

Don't know what caused this issue on my Formuler F1, but it is definitely solved on openpli-6.1-release-formuler1-20180205 now. LAN/Network works fine again.

Thank you for all your time and efforts! You're doing really an outstanding job!

Weird, there weren't any significant changes between 6.0 and 6.1, and the last driver update for Formuler was about a year ago.

But he, if it works for you, congrats! ;)
