Hi,
Just out of curiosity, what is the significance of this setting when performing a service scan?
IGNORE DVB NAMESPACE
Thanks.

OK, so before this option appeared in the menu, this had always been ignored. It is just that now we may have a possibility to enable it (in other words: to switch the ignoring off) but then Rytec EPG will not be compatible for such channels?

Namespace is a satellite thing, for cable (FFFF0000) and terrestrial (EEEE0000) a fake and hardcoded namespaces are used.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

If you change it not to ingore the subnetwork, all your dvbnamespace will contain much more "entropy" making unique all channels, even when duplicate tsid, onid exist under the same orbital position.
When Sky at 28ºE moves a transponder, it creates a copy on a new frequency several days before deleting it, and when scaning new one, it overwrites old channels.
So I understand that enabling that parameter will make possible to store both equal transponders.
Enigma is getting old....

Huh? It will never overwrite the old channel, old and new have a different service reference.
For a satellite service reference, the namespace is the satellite orbital position. For 28.2E, that is 11A0000 (which is 282 in hex). All channels on 28.2E have this namespace, and there are no collisions.
For Terrestrial however, a fixed namespace is used, probably because of the assumption that you can only receive one transmitted, and/or several transmitters broadcast exactly the same. But if you live on the border, you could be able to receive both your own countries' channels, but also those of the neighboring country. Or you can receive the same channel but in different regions (with localized programs).
And then you can have duplicate service references.

Not ALL channels on 28.2E are assigned exact 11A0000 namespace,
https://github.com/O...vb/scan.cpp#L81
Channels on tsid 0x7e3 also have frequency ("sub network") part in namespace.

In that case the "0000" part of the namespace is used, but the first bit remains 11A. So that still makes the entire service reference unique (which was my point).
That is not the case for terrestrial (and cable, but two different cable providers on one box is more exotic ).

Actually they don't have different service references unless namespace subnet is activated. It is called dual illumination. The same SID, TSID, and ONID are broadcast on 2 transponders at the same time.

I have never observed this on 28.2, which is my primary provider?

There are some services that isValidOnidTsid returns false and for those services the namespace was containing the frequency.
This setting is very useful when broacasters mess it up, or you receive the same channel on different frequencies (eg access to two DVB-T antennas).
I am sure those who affected know what I am saying.
Yes, except isValidOnidTsid does not contain one piece of correct information as the data in it is completely out of date (by years).
Here is an up to date list where TSID/ONID are currently reused on different frequencies.

Holy cow.
If would be great if that could be configured without having to add it to a piece of C++ code...

I have never observed this on 28.2, which is my primary provider?
It is how it is done on 28.2E. When a transponder is going to change frequency the new transponder is switched on several days beforehand and both transponders are run at the same time. Service ref is identical on both.

I got that from of my Lyngsat fetch script.
Personally I think it would be better if namespace subnet was permanently on... and then something in EpgCache that only reads the first 4 digits of the namespace so EPG Import works both ways.

That sounds indeed like more of a fool-proof solution.
