guys ​it was only a figment, now it looks like for Xmas I have DAB(+) on my Xtrend ( or VU+ ), kidding!

But seriously this looks very promising! , both RTL2832U or even the R820T2 RTL-SDR will work? I read somewhere the R820T2 has a frequency range of  24 – 1766 MHz???

Matrix, is already using the old rtl-sdr fm/am project long time now.

Also the DAB/DAB+ was asked several times, at least now we have something to experiment with.

In Greece we do not have a broadcast, so people should try and share results.

Captain already tried, but he only got 2 seconds sound, seems like rtl-sdr stops.

The dab-console author hopefully will fix any issues reported!

I have an RTL-SDR device, and I can receive a signal which has one DAB+ service.

What do I have to do with that "recipe" ????

I supose I need a dab-rtlsdr-3 file......

I have test with NL radio a little modified plugin for testing

 

Experimental DAB/DAB+ radio

Thanks to @athoik

I made some modifications for Open Black Hole

i think will work with Pli
I have test only with Open Black Hole ARM 4K box.
With this, only DAB/DAB+ radio stations can be received.
Ten NL channels have been programmed for testing.

Of course for use in other regions and countries
it is necessary to edit plugin.py
You have to put the names of the radio channels you want to hear
you have to replace the hex code of these radio stations
and the main code of the region.

Example from plugin.py
("ch2", _ ("NH Radio"))
is North Holland radio >> NH Radio.
in commands (plugin.py we find coding for "ch2")

cmd = "dab-rtlsdr-3 -C8A -W50 -S 8418 - | gst-launch-1.0 fdsrc! audio / x-raw, format = S16LE, channels = 2, layout = interleaved, rate = 48000! dvbaudiosink"

8A is the main code of the region
8418 is the code for NH Radio

you can use the name of the radio station instead of the code
then you have to replace -S 8418
with
example:
-C NH Radio

The plugin now supports switching to next station in the same frequency using the yellow button.

Having them integrated on e2 requires support from manufactures.

At least the proof of concept works

It's already working very well.

@athoik has made a big step forward.

 

Now tuning of scanned channels is very fast

Of course, the condition is a good reception.

First scanning is of course long.

But channel selection after scanning is very fast.

 

I think the next step is listing or memorizing the channels .

 

But it's already very good and usable.

Audio is very good.

 

The USB dongle is very cheap from China..

 

If someone like to test a slightly modified version with just DAB / DAB +

tested at OBH but certainly working with Pli.

 

With UP/down buttons choose the frequency of the DAB network

The blue button follows the log

With the yellow button you can choose the next radio station

As ​I'd love to contribute a USB dongle has been despatched meanwhile from rtl-sdr.com,

will reply to this topic once the dongle got in ...

Also please inform once testing on a stb (eg Vu+ or Xtrend ) with DVB-C/T2 tuner ( with DAB+/DVB-T2 antenna ) can start
