Hello everybody,

I am new on this forum, since I switched with my Dreambox 8000 from Gemini 2 to openPLi 6 recently.

I would be grateful if someone who has knowledge about the script could help me to get

Satfinder Plugin working properly.

Any help would be highly appreciated...

Which Satfinder Plugin? And what script? What are you trying to achieve?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hi WanWizard,

Thanks for your reply and for any possible help...

What I am trying to get is to have the values in Satfinder signal bars ( SNR,AGC ) acting the same as it was on Gemini 2 image.

The point is I need the numbers be visible while changing even when there's no "LOCK".It gives you a good approximate orientation as how close

you are to get a signal when you aligning the dish. When I switch on OpenPLi  Satfinder shows "0" all the time until it has a "LOCK".

So no idea if you even close to the signal.

I gave all my best trying to replace some parts of the script from different files from the old image to the new one, spent hours and hours,

but I'm obviously an amateur and I can't make it work.

I am sure the problem could be solved with just some minor intervention in script, but that requires an expert, which I'm not.

I have attached screenshots to make my point more clear.

any idea or help where to look at?

Thanks

We are not aware of this issue. Obviously, correctly pointing your dish would be a nightmare without a good satfinder, as you say.

What version of OpenPLi are you exactly using, and on which box?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I have Dreambox 8000 and now I use OpenPLi 6.0

But i tried recently also OpenPLi 4 and the result was the same.

I should have switch to OpenPLi long ago,but this was the only reason

I stayed with Gemini for so long.

Now I strongly decide to move on with OpenPLi,but this is a cruical problem,

since I am a keen DX-er and the values on Satfinder are helping me a lot...

I think the problem sticks to the Image,as I tried to change a few skins,

and it's always the same.

There is a satfinder plugin in the feeds, can you check if that behaves the same (which would indicate an issue in the low-level tuner code)?

Sorry,I'm not sure which Satfinder plugin you mean?

I have the one that is already installed with OpenPLi installation...

There is one default in the image, there is also one under plugins, green button, extensions, called signalfinder, that you need to install. When you do, you can find it in the same menu (so you'll see two signal finders ;)).

It uses the same low-level code, but there rest is different.

Just installed Signalfinder from the plugin list, and, unfortunately,it acts the same as Satfinder.

I very much suspect the heart of the problem lies in the file TunerInfo in usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/TunerInfo.py

Is there anybody who can take a look in the script and have an idea where's a problem?

Hello,

Does anybody knows what is the meaning of "TunerUseMask" that appears in the script?

TunerUseMask contains a bitmask of all tuners and whether they're active. That's not the region you should be looking.

Same here with dm800se

Tuner gives no signal at no signal transponders!

Only showing signal on transponder where you have a stable lock

That is completely normal.

In other Images it shows signal even if there is no lock

OpenPLI only shows signal, if there is 100% stable signal! This makes it hard to check something on low signal transponders.

Where do you draw that conclusion from?

OpenPLi's enigma just continuously displays the information it gets from the tuner. If the tuner doesn't give SNR/AGC/BER information when there is no LOCK, there is really nothing to display. And so, yes, it depends on the hardware and the drivers what is displayed. I've experienced that aligning a tuner with a VU+ receiver works very well, info is updated multiple times per second. On some other receivers the information is updated very less frequently, sometimes only once per 3-5 seconds. Some receivers also stop trying to tune again when the signal has been gone for a short while, for instance when you obscured the LNB during aligning. You then need to select another transponder and switch back again to force it to tune again.

Yup, I have that experience with for example the Mutant HD2400...

OpenPLi displays AGC, SNR, BER based on what the closed-source drivers return. This has nothing to do with the plugin or enigma2. What is displayed on the screen is what is returned by the Frontend convertor. All the plugin does is send the correct commands to enigma of what parameters to tune.
