You need to reflash.

The RC image is a test version, it will go offline later today, including the feeds.

If you have local storage, you can reflash with a backup/restore from inside the image, no more need to fiddle with a USB stick.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

So I can upgrade from 6.1-RC to 6.1 via Backup/Restore?

Will test...

Hmm, done a backup and tries to run restore (a new firmware will be loaded..), now I have an informational text telling me

"You need a PC connected to your receiver. If you need further instructions..."

I'm aborting this, going back to USB..  ;)

Edit:

Ok, I found something new called "Flash image" in System settings, seems to be more suitable.

Quick report:

The new (?) feature called Flash Image works amazing, now I can dump my 256MB USB stick used for upgrades!

Everything automatically updated, fantastic job I must say!!

What is the exactly way to do it?

Making backup from the settings with autobackup?

which backup/restore tool do you mean to load and flash? Automatic Fullbackup with download image with a normal PC oder an other plugin which can do the download and flash?

You get asked if you want to make a backup before you flash (which invokes autobackup).

So it makes a backup, downloads the image, unzips it, flashes it, reboots the box, and restores the backup again. The option to restore your own images (from the backupsuite for example) is still on the todo list.

That sounds great. I will test it in the next days.

When will the 6.1RC feed go offline?

Based the 6.1 release on the same source code as the latest 6.1RC or is that a different sourcecode without the last change from the 6.1RC?

If the flashimage function under settings makes a settings backup for later restore after Image flashing, makes it also the backup for the files which I have selected per hand with the autoback? I asked it because I´ve made some changes in some keymaps, skins and older plugins which I backuped also with the autobackup plugin.

The first release build uses the same source as the last rc build. But not on the same build environment, and so there are differences in versioning because a different PR database is used. And that makes upgrading difficult and far from fool-proof.

If you choose for "Flash with a backup", it just calls Autobackup to make a backup (like the yellow button does in the Autobackup plugin), so it backs up whatever you have selected. And it will restore it too. Same goes for plugins you have installed from the feeds.

The only thing the Autobackup can't do, but that isn't new, is handle manually installed plugins, unless they are also on your backup medium, and you have manually added them to the autoinstall file in the backup.

We use the "git-flow" development method, only difference is that

- their "master" branch is called "release" with us

- their "release branche" is called "rc" with us

- and we keep multiple release branches because we want to be able to build old releases if needed, and tagging doesn't work very well in an OE project

I´ve tested today the flash-image feature coming vom 6.1RC to goto 6.1 stabel but I get a green screen

So I think I must go the old way, making backup from settings, lLading the image per hand to the hdd inside the box and flash it with autofullback/Restore

Is it a problem when I use Kerni-HD1R2 skin?

I´ve tested it now and the green screen doesn´t come with PLI skin

Here the green screen

That didn't work. The selection "do you want to restore" looped over and over and over again, no matter what alternative i picked. Yes/No, looped anyway.
