And I couldn't agree more that everything should change to source, so that any object could be manipulated and converted in any way wanted.
This will also simplify the buttons in general as both pixmaps and labels will become conditional.
Besides skins should be constantly developed anyways...

I know. And I also know there are a lot of moaning/lazy skinners out there.

Exactly! Once you start skinning you (should) know that you have to check the E2-repos (and others as well, especially if you also have skinned plugins) on a daily basis.
Skins that are not being maintained don't deserve to be on feeds.

Hi,
It would be great if there was a skinners notification system where any changes to code that have an implication for skins could be posted and all skinners who subscribe to that system get an alert that a change to their skin is required. The posting could/should detail exactly what are the change requirements.

Simply move all skins in enigma on skin_default.xml, and you will get the following notification system 
.
.You will need to follow changes in only one file.
I think almost all the enigma screens should already be there.
