Is it possible to stream files from my computer and connected HDD's via my homenetvork to the TV?

If so, what fileformat and resolution etc is NOT possible to play?

Hi,

at least VP9 and h264 with a resolution > full hd will not work. Some VC1 will have no image but sound. Some xvid/divx will also not play but this depends on the encoding parameter so it is hit and miss if a file works.

ciao

In other words, only messed up non-standard media won't work.

Hi,

I must correct myself. The Solo4K is to old for VP9.

ciao

I was able to watch this video:

Eye of the Storm 4K Ultra HD

using Kodi with the Youtube add-on on my Solo4K

This video is referenced as a VP9 sample video by the Official Kodi Wiki:

Hi,
how can you be sure? Youtube changes codec, resolution as it likes. Have you tried downloaded examples? If I do not forget I will try some files tonight.

ciao

I then tested with Kodi the 2 other VP9 sample videos, for ex.:

  1. VP9 Profile 2 HDR #1

but VP9 Profile 2 codec is not apparently supported, as playing this video results in a black screen with audio only.

If you can link some VP9 test files, I could report here the results.

A bit large files to download...

What do you think about this video (3840x2160), only 34 MB:

Hi, OK it is a large file but inside are a lot of small files with different encoder settings. I have them already on my Ultimo4K, where they are running, and will test them tonight on my Solo4K. ciao

Hi,

as I wrote Solo4K = no VP9. I also could not remember something in the driver changes from VU.

ciao
