Hi @samsamsam. just checked. You were correct. VP9 4K playback only works in youtube tv and chromiumos plugins and not gst or exteplayer3. I tested the following from https://kodi.wiki/view/Samples .
VP9 Profile 2 HDR #1 The World in HDR (in MKV, downloaded from YouTube) (thanks wesk05)
VP9 Profile 2 HDR #2 The Redwoods (in MKV, downloaded from YouTube) (thanks wesk05)

Just read some more information about VP9 support in vti forum. I will need some time to check and confirm.
VP9 Profile 2 works only on Zero 4K
VP9 Profile 1 works on Ultimo 4k, Uno 4K, Uno 4K SE

Hi @samsamsam , just checked. I can confirm the information above.
Vu+ Zero 4k plays "both" VP9 4k profile 1 and profile 2 in current vti image using gst media player.
Vu+ Ultimo 4k plays "only" VP9 4k profile 1 in current vti image using gst media player.
I tested the files above for VP9 4k profile 2. And
So if possible enable both VP9 profile 1 and profile 2 for Vu+ Zero 4k in youtube in the IPTVPlayer and enable VP9 profile 1only for Vu+ Ultimo 4k, Vu+ Uno 4K, Vu+ Uno 4K SE in youtube in the IPTVPlayer.
VP9 Profile 1 works on Vu+ Ultimo 4k, Vu+ Uno 4K, Vu+ Uno 4K SE

Thanks for the test.
Are you able to test if exteplayer3 can handle these codecs too?
You can use "Local Media" host to test playback with exteplayer3

I tested the Eye of the Storm4K UltraHD.mkv file on ET11000.I use "Local Media" in host gstplayer-works. In host exteplayer3 it works, but there are small friezes of the image.

HI @samsamsam, 4k VP9 playback profile 1 also works on Ultimo 4k using serviceapp+exteplayer. But it does not work as well as gstplayer. Playback is not 100% fluent and pictures stops after a while. Differs sometime 20 sec. Sometimes 50sec. Maybe because my exteplayer serviceapp settings are not perfect I dont know. I am no exteplayer expert. Maybe because file is on qnap nas and not local hdd. Same file on nas plays more stable using gstplayer.I will investigate more using file on local hdd and using zero 4k.

Unfortunately I do not have such set-top-box not other which support vp9, so I am not able to investigate problem.
Without correct playback with exteplayer3 there is no sens to enable 4K in youtube host of IPTVPlayer.

SSS

HI @samsamsam, I think you should enable the option so I and people that like to can test using your software. A youtube stream is different compared to downloaded files on a nas and the files I tested were high bitrate sample test files. If you like me to check and look into this more let me know.

Hello,
I do not think that this is good idea.
Because users will report problem which I will not be able to check/verify/fix, due to lack of set-top-box which will be able to play such files.
So, what for test if no one will be able to fix problem?
