On the VU+ zero 4k when I try to play a mp4v movie I get sound but no picture. Other formats work fine.
Tried with gstplayer and ext3player but both same problem.
Any help please?

Sounds like it contains something that requires an unsupported codec. What exactly is in this mp4v?
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Same movie plays ok on VLC. This is codec info

It is not driver related. An STB is not a streaming box, nor a PC where files are decoded in software. The SoC either supports the codec, or it doesn't.
Usually it's an indication the file contains something that isn't completely standard, altough I would tend to agree with you that if the Zero plays it, the Zero 4K should play it too.

BTW there have been some changes in the dvbmediasink configuration of the zero4k lately, regarding DTS play. So it's probably concerning a DTS soundtrack.
Workarounds for the moment
- use the AC3 soundtrack if it's included
- transcode the DTS soundtrack to AC3

I am watching from IPTV service and many movies are in this format so cant easily transcode them.
Maybe we could use the old drivers?

Some of the MKV functions have been taken out of the broadcomm SoC used in the VU+ Zero 4K. So fat chanse it is never going to work regardless how many times you update..

This just doesn't make sense? MKV is a container, the SoC never sees the container!

Because I tried a few myself.. on my ancient DM8000 and less ancient VU+SoloSE v2 the movies work. On the VU+Zero4K they don't. Problem 'seems' to be IMHO the non-standard size. 720 x 578 / 1920 x 1080 does work on all my boxes... Armed with the info that the SoC used in the VU+Zero 4K had a few things left out (to save speed) I simply deduced it had to ve the SoC.

many media files..iptv.. dont work in pli because the vers of gstreamer is 12.3...in atv works 95% with gstreamer 13.xxx up

The only restriction of the solo4k's SoC is that it doesn't have VP9 decoding. I never have problems playing media (be them h264 or h265, like they should, other codecs: no guarantees).
