Hi Everyone, I had flashed this image “openpli-6.1-release-vuduo2-20180212_usb”
on my Duo2 with 4 tuners. It freezes while I was watching a recorded series and having 3 timers recording.
Please help
Thanks very much

Recording on what? Local disk? And define freezing? Only image? Sound as well? Did you see a spinner? Is it permanent (i.e. did you wait)? Can you still access the box via telnet when it happens?
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hi WanWizard, thanks very much for the quick reply.
The recording is on an internal 3Tb Harddisk. It freezes the image & sound and also no reactions on any depressed of the buttons on the remote. I need to turn-off & on the electricity supply. I didn’t see any spinner and it seem to be permanent. As I do not know what to do in Telnet, so did not try that.
Best Regards

Next time it happens, see if you can ping the IP address of the box.
If so, see if you can telnet into the box, login with user "root" and the password you have set (if any). Then type the commands:
dmesg cat /var/log/messages
and copy and paste the last 40 or so lines of the output of each here.
If is is really dead, and it happens only with an heavily loaded box (all tuners active, disk active), it could also be the (capacitors of the) power supply is the way out.

Hi WanWizard, this time round it didn’t freeze but did an auto restart instead. Maybe I had remember it wrongly on the previous session, I am not so sure now!
The first time occurred I think was about 10 minutes of playback while 3 recordings are ongoing. The 2nd time occurred I think was about 15 minute.
As instructed, I had done a copy of the log as per attached. Hope I had done correctly.
Thanks very much

Hi WanWizard, this time round it freezes for 1-2 minutes and restarted. I noticed the 1st attachment didn’t succeed, I thought it did. Now I know what happen, I didn’t select “Attach This File”, therefore it was not attach on my previous report. I shall attached it in this report and also the recent one.
Thanks

The message
ext4_mb_generate_buddy
in the dmesg2.txt means the ext4 is corrupted
You can do the following
Reboot the box completly
go with telnet/ssh to the box
then
umount /dev/sda1
fsck.ext4 -f /dev/sda1
If there are questions to repair something please confirm the questions
After running start the same command twice to see that everything is ok
If all is ok make a reboot with
reboot

I fear this is a result, and not the cause, of the issue. The described symptomes point towards a failing power supply.

As I already suspected, any corruption on the disk wasn't the cause of the issue. Again with multiple recordings running and/or multiple tuners in use?

So the complete box hangs. Very strange, maybe a hardware problem
Did you see any repair messages during your fsck.ext4 commands?
Are all cables correctly fixed inside the box?

Yes. There are repair messages (attached) and I choose yes. I think I did another 2 times. All cables are in order.

I would try to find someone that can check the power supply of the box for the correct output levels, and is able to replace capacitors when needed.
This is an amusing read: https://moltensolder...vu-duo2-faulty/
