When doing a software update, it's normal to have 15-25 packages to update every few days.

Just one example, I go to "show packages to be upgraded", and I see enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-skinselector

I go to https://github.com/O...s/SystemPlugins and I see that skinselector was updated 6 months ago.

So, why does it appear if it hasn't been really updated ??

Enigma2 is build "complete" including all subfolders.

So also enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-skinselector gets the updated commit-hash - even if it has not changed.

This is because those packets are marked to have a depency towards enigma2 so since enigma2 is changed the extensions are also compiled again.

From my point of view this dependency should be dropped since every available plugins/extensions are dependent from enigma2 but not all explicitly specify it and they are working fine. This will avoid to have those plugins/extensions recreated even if they are untouched.

No simply wrong - it is because they are located in the same repository. And the repository ist updated due to other changes in other files and folders...

This might be true for other extensions/systemplugins - but not the one(s) he mentioned  (e.g. enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-skinselector)

From my point of view this dependency should be dropped since every available plugins/extensions are dependent from enigma2plugins/extensions

I think it too.

There is no question of dependency. As @Arn354 already mentioned, these are all part of the same codebase, in the same repository.

This can only be addressed by moving the code out to individual repositories, which is quite a bit of work for something cosmetic like this.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Yep. Should have been done otherwise to start with. What's the point of making some features plugins if the code is in the enigma source to start with...

I don't read PM -> if you have something to ask or to report, do it in the forum so others can benefit. I don't take freelance jobs.
Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.
