This is a novice question, please bear with me.

I have been struggling to get my two dreamboxes, a DM500HD and a DM520 to talk to each other for some time now with little success. The setup I would like to achieve is: my DM520 is connected to the sat dish and is working fine with all channels on the local TV. I would like to connect the DM500HD to a second TV in the bedroom where there is no sat dish connection but only a LAN socket. I would like to see what I have on the DM520 on the bedroom TV as if i were in front of the DM520. I have now come across a plugin that would seem to do the job, remotestreamconvert. I installed it on the DM500HD from the feed (2.0+git28) without erros but it does not appear in the plugins and there is no way to set it up. I am using the latest version of openpli 4 (2018/02/19) on the DM500HD.

Could somebody point me to what I am doing wrong please?

The plugin is added to service searching menu, the menu with the tuner configuration and the satfinder.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Ah, silly me. Many thanks, found it. The conversion works ok but I do not seem able to switch channels on the master DM520 from the client DM500HD. I was expecting to be able to change channels with the client remote and then view them on the client. What happens instead is that the master does not change at all and the channels are not visible on the client. I only get a message after a short delay indicating problems. Please note that the client connects correctly to the master, downloads the settings and converts each satellite channel information into the proper stream information. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

I can't really say.

We don't make software for a DM520, so we can't make any statement on what it can or can't do, and how. All the plugin does is generate stream URL's from the service references in the bouquet files, and replace those references with the URL's.

So I suggest you get one of those URL's out of a bouquet file, which should look like this:

http://172.16.1.43:8001/1:0:19:17CA:C82:3:EB0000:0:0:0

and paste it into your PC browser. If that doesn't work (you might have to install VLC or something similar), it's something on your DM520.

I think I am getting there. I looked at the URL of a channel in DeamboxEdit which contained a lot of %3A instead of :. Guess this is ok and it is a quirk of DreamboxEdit. Anyway I replaced all the %3A with :, pasted it in VLC and found that the reason why nothing was working was because the box was switched on and showing a live channel. It never occurred to me the box had to be in standby mode to be operated remotely. Pretty obvious really when you realize that if the tuner is used by the box itself it cannot be operated remotely, but it never occurred to me.

I am now pretty sure everything will be fine when I try to connect my cliet DM500HD to it. Many thanks again for pointing in the right direction. Hopefully I will not have to bother you again. .

The %3A etc are normal, it is called URL encoding, and it is used to deal with characters not allowed in a URL, like the colon, or a space. It has nothing to do with DreamboxEdit.

Streaming requires an available tuner. the master box doesn't have to be in standby, but obviously, if your master only has one tuner, you're limited to streaming from the same transponder as is used to watch TV.

And you're not bothering me, the forum is here to help each other...

Thanks for the explanation of %3A. Now everything is working beautifully as it should. It was a very simple and elegant solution once I understood how it worked. Thanks a million.
