Hi guys,

I have a zgemma star s, and no matter what USB I try to flash the image with it just won't work.

Is there a way to do this by FTP or PUTTY?

I searched in the forum and didn't come across any answers. This is my first post, so sorry if this question has been answered before and I just overlooked the answer.

TIA

Flashing is only done in one specific way.
Unpack the sf1 image and put the complete map /zgemma/ on the USBstick. This should work.

USB stick has to be FAT32 formatted!

I have the USB formatted correctly guys, I also unpacked the files and mapped them as suggested. Still no joy at all. Thanks for the advice though

Try other USB slot. In some cases (don't know your box) you'll have to press a button at the frontpanel of the box so that flashing starts.

Hi mate, I've tried absolutely everything. My box is grand, it's my dad's, it's a star s. I think it's time to get him a new one. Thank you for your advice. Have a nice weekend.

Some boxes are also very picky about the USB stick. The bootloader has a very short timeout (in order not to delay the startup too much), if the stick isn't detected in that time, you can't flash with that stick.

For boxes having this problem, the older and smaller the stick, the better. Moderm 8GB sticks are not detected by these boxes, try an old one, 1GB or less.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
