Hi. I am a conservative user, meaning I am of the kind that likes to keep what he has got (in a sense) and hate devices that auto update. That mind comes from all experience with apps looking/working different or not working at all or even making a computer/settopbox completely inoperable. I hope there is more of my kind around here ;-)

Therefore I really want to disable openPLI's auto search for updates and if it does auto-update them I want to disable that too. I hope there is a menu option that I missed (I'm an openPli 6.1 user on a Mut@nt HD500c) or some config file I can edit via a telnet/ssh session. I hope someone can help me with this because I cannot find it in this forum or google.

There is no auto update. You need to go to the menu entry and start the update manually.

OpenPli doesn't perform any auto update as mentioned by betacentauri but some plugins makers incorporated such features in there own plugin. But then it is normally only there plugins that are updated and this is totally out of OpenPli control but most of the time the plug-in also prompt for it.

Good to know there isn't such a thing as auto-updating.

When I go to applications/software control/manage applications and select a new app that I like to install, then press red key to go back one level, then press the yellow key to process then the queue list also shows updates. Those will get installed alongside the chosen app if I press the OK key :(  The only way out of this is to each time remember to press the green button (called 'only applications') instead but the danger lurks in me forgetting that. My question is how can I prevent the app installation queue to also include updates ?

Install plugins via the plugin entry in menu. When you see the list of plugins you can install new ones by pressing the green button.
