Problem is we'd need to change ALL of the SRC_URI's in OE, main part of it being maintained by the Yocto project, so I don't see it happening anytime soon.

R.I.P. Open Source.

Github was very much a commercial company, not a not-for-profit open source institution. We'll have to see what happens, but to be fair, the Microsoft of Today isn't the one from 20 years ago.

At the same time, Github was talking with others as well, amongst them Google, so if other companies are in the market, expect Gitlab to be sweeped up as well. Bitbucket was already bought by Atlassian, and sofar they have decent open source support as well (in terms of service better then Github even).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Also Bitbucket doesn't work in my country, github is still good, time will tell :)

Time will tell...

Whatever MS may do, it will never be as bad as what happened to sourceforge.

By the way, given the choice, I'd much prefer Microsoft buying github than Google.

For some reason there are a lot of groups, OSS and not, that have moved to gitlab the last week. I've received about a dozen emails.

And honestly, no clue why?

There might have some private repositories and just afraid.. They might think that MS, never changed and they will harm their projects.

Before few years, I would act in the same way.

Today I kinda like (ashamed) MS, especially after making such a u-turn in open software. Time will tell for sure!

The nice thing about git is that you can always move to another server, even if they unplug the original one, since every "clone" always holds the whole repo.

Yesterday I also experienced problem with Github I had an Unicorn stating that the server reply was too slow, but a refresh just works for me.

I just test right now and I can access my github without any problem.
