I see lot of new in OpenEmbedded Yocto device support (Odroid c2, … ). (https://github.com/o...e-alliance-core )

In the past wetek launch wetek play 2 with S905 chip but wetek don’t continue the drivers support.

Now we have Zgemma with this Hi3798MV200 chipset.

So some question:

The Hi3798MV200 is it a S905 clone with low license cost ?  (https://androidpc.es...s-soc-actuales/ )

Do you think the source code for hardware decode or encode could be give (HiVXE 2.0 )? in official or not official ?

The new Amlogic device have some source code for drivers , but if I understand ( libreelec forum ) it’s not complet.

So , do you think all the amlogic device could be work with enough support ?

In this case what the best choice of device in this case ( with more support …) ?

In the Odroid Exynos5422  Odroid have new Ubuntu 18.04 version with OpenGL ES 3.1 and OpenCL 1.2 drivers for Mali T628MP6 GPU AND FFMPEG with hardware accelerated H.264 decoder.

Do you think we can have, in the futur, this type of device (Exynos5422) in OpenEmbedded Yocto with a possible unsupported device openpli compil ?

Some new for rockchip :

meta-rockchip is an Yocto BSP layer for the Rockchip boards

Allwinner chips are very active but not ready to decode h264, in the futur maybe ( https://bootlin.com/ )

Explain of GPU and VPU ( old but always ok )

https://www.cnx-soft...n-the-vpu-does/

What i understand :

In fact all new soc decode and encode h264. But for this we 2 pre-requires

-need encode hardware drivers .

If it's not open-source the company who make the device can make a compil without source code , but they must a licence for this , and of course the price ...

If it's and open source some dev can compil it BUT lot of open source drivers are reverse engineering (in some case the manufacturer give it in GPL : rockchip) , so it can be buggy or not complet or not in the openembedded kernel ( who use LTS kernel )

-need to implement the api transcode

with openpli must have the api who create /dev/bcm_enc?

( i must read more of this api for understand)

so it explain for what we have only some receiver with this function ...
