We don't run "abondoned" branches, not even sure what you mean with it. We build the current and previous stable release, so once we get to 7 we will stop 4. And we build a develop image.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Please correct me if I am mistaken. You build the previous stable version just so that they get XML and channel list update. No other changes made.

Sent from my Moto G (5S) using Forum Fiend v1.3.3.

@Abu,

You can find the update done on the 6.2 branch from those links:

https://github.com/O...its/release-6.2

https://github.com/O...its/release-6.2

For the XML files:

https://github.com/OpenPLi/tuxbox-xml

The plugin have no specific branch for 6.2 so if a plugin is updated it will be rebuild and provided during the 6.2 online update.

Such thing as xmlUpdate without build needed can’t really work in a structured way... as doing an update without a build was running will overwrite the XML’s.. when you put it on the ‘override’ folder a normal update does not update it...

Default behaviour is pull to /etc/tuxbox. The next enigma build will overwrite this file and the STB will use the latest file from any new build.

The plugin just means the latest can be pulled from the repo at any time without a build being necessary. Same as doing it manually but the GUI does the donkey work.

That is not true. Many of the plugins are locked by a hash to a certain commit. So running a build does not mean you have the latest version of any plugin.

No, it also receives updates to channel lists, the EPG importer, etc. And it may also recieve updates and bugfixes (like with any supported image), but their aren't that many. Same is true for the 6.x-stable by the way.

Hi WanWizard,

The real problem though is PLi don't feel comfortable building from the repo where the data is maintained meaning we have 2 copies of the data and all the problems that causes.

I've already mentioned dozens of pages ago in the other thread that I personally don't have a problem using "a" satellites.xml, I do have a problem with using it without knowing if it is ok or not, but that can be dealt with.

As mentioned before, I'm not home and therefore not able to do anything that requires some else than a smartphone...

Perhaps the curator of the master TuxBox data can also provide a hash checksum with the data update.  Any downstream clients can fetch the data and run their own checksum to ensure the integrity of the data.  That would handle any transfer issues.

The curator of the data could run some sanity checks before publishing the data to the master repository.  For example:

  • Check the the files is not empty.
  • Check that the length of the file is between some reasonable limits, perhaps check that the file is within 10%, 20% etc of the size of the last build.
  • Check that the XML is syntactically correct.
  • Etc.

If any of the sanity check fail then don't automatically update the repository until the curator manually checks and approves the data for publishing.

Regards,

Ian.

Wrong UTF encoding ????

Attached File  wrong_utf.jpg   128.71KB   2 downloads

Besides, now I see that sat names have been modified.

Instead of listing as 19.2E Ku-band Astra 1KR/1L/1M/1N  , wouldn't it be better to list as : 19.2E Astra 1KR/1L/1M/1N (Ku)  ???

I mean to replace Ka-band, Ku-band, C-band with (Ka), (Ku), ( C )

Why 9 East does MIX 2 satellites with different bands ???? (Ku-band Eutelsat 9B & Ka-Sat 9A)

I agree for consistency would be nice to always specify the band.

Ku is the band. The satellite name is "Eutelsat 9B & Ka-Sat 9A" according to Lyngsat. Sorry if you don't like the format of this file but it is the same as used by satellites-xml.org and OE-Alliance. The file was just provided as a courtesy to bridge the gap until OpenPLi creation tool was updated.

No need to specify the band if only Ku is present. Band is specified when the satellite is not Ku or the position is multiband.

It looks like there is something wrong with entries for 21.6E satelite.

Some of the SR's are too short.

The file is made based on Lyngsat data. If you know for certain the data is wrong send an email to Lyngsat correcting the data. King of Sat is only for Europe so no point using that as a data source.

Report as a bug here if the data does NOT correspond to Lyngsat.
