Why do I have to connect tuner A, when I want to have a picture/tune in? When I only connect tuner B there is no picture, although the signal finder has 85% SNR?
(BTW in the settings preferred tuner is auto)

If you have not configured tuner A as "not connected", the box will use that tuner first (assuming the config for A and B are the same). It can't know the tuner has no cable connected to it.

You are right, then the "auto" setting under Customize doesn't work the way I expected.

Auto means Enigma auto selects the tuner with the least reception options.
For example, if you have A with 13, 19.2, 23.5 and 28.2, and you have B with 19.2 and 23.5, a tune or record of a 23.5 channel will select tuner B, as A has more "on offer".
It doesn't mean: I'm not receiving anything on this tuner, lets try another one.

Crystal clear, that's the difficulty with terms like "auto", one can assume things and "assumption is the mother of all f...upps"

You shouldn't have to mess with these settings. Just make sure the tuner setup is correct and it will all work.
Make sure the tuner setup is correct includes:
- only enable tuner A when a cable is connected to input #1
- only enable tuner B when a cable is connected to input #2
After that, enigma will take to select and loop through all relevant tuners.
