Thanks,

Okay i feel a bit stupid now, the issue i was having at least with the pli version of the plugin is i had not installed a channel list, i do not remember that being an issue prior.... is that a new feature of the plugin ?? #brain is fried...........

What compounded the issue is some sources will work regardless of the channels being in the list or not..... (i tested by removing all channels)

Anyways it is now working with a channel list installed (btw it requires a reboot to take effect)

The "unknown channel" in the logs on Rytecs source all end in .uk so that might be the issue, it is just the way some channels are named in the channel list epgimporter makes reference to, same for mine with the likes of itv general use

Hi,

Yes channels.xml were always mandatory, the channels.xml make the link between the service reference and the channel id.
In the real EPG data file only the channel id is used.
That's why you can create multiple channels.xml and point to the same EPG data sources.
So EPG Data source on its own totally ignore the service reference!

But this has a drawback effect, if you have multiple channels.xml for the same data files they are downloaded multiple times.
That's why I create the custom.channels.xml where it is now possible to easily add service references that will be used for every EPG data file.
So if you use it we only need to download once the EPG data file once.

About the channel id it is Doglover that assign the name (and now the name are non-case sensitive) the extension .uk, .fr, .ie is part of the name and don't have any real meaning.

I know that the "unknown channel" are really confusing for end-user looking at the log. Those channels are in the EPG Data file but don't have an assigned value in the channels.xml file sp they are not loaded into memory. This is informational but not really meaningful. I already think to suppress them and rather mention the channels that are really loaded this will be more clear and more easy for troubleshooting.

This is not a list from us. So I cannot comment on.

Except:

Let me explain the term Unknown Channel.

An unknown channel is channel which is not present in the channels file, or in the lamdeb file.

An example will make this clearer:

The import plug-in reads an XMLTV file and finds in there channels. f.i one channel_id is called 4music.uk. The plug-in will look now in the channels file (f.i. rytec.channels.xml) and tries to find service references in there to which that EPG will to be assigned. If it cannot find any channel_id named 4music.uk, this is called an Unknown channel.

If a service ref is found, the plug-in will now check if this service ref is present in the lamedb (in fact checking if you can watch the channel). If the service ref is in lamedb, again the channels is called Unknown, and the EPG will not be loade into memory for this channel. In the example for 4music.uk

For IPTV (the service refs with an http extension) this last step is skipped, and the EPG is loaded in memory anyway.

Willy

PS: tried to download http://linuxsat-supp...g/vermin.xml.gz

This file is encrypted in some way. The EPGimport plug-in cannot read this.

Yes most of my unknown channel's will be redundant channel's since the grab from opentv data has about 600 channel's and my channel.xml only about 400. In my case I need to edit serv ref in both my webgrab xml and my channel.xml when there is changes to either provider 28.2east opentv data and also cable UK.
There is some old crap in there that should not be....
For the most part it's run by a script and is forgotten about until I see issues
Sky Atlantic is now sky witness
Also a lot of channel's on 28.2 are not on the cable provider at all...

It looks like an internet problem. However you can download it with wget.

I have no idea at the moment.

The only thing which maybe can be a problem is your channels file: /etc/epgimport/jex.epg.channels.xml

Can you show this to me, pls. However I doubt this is the problem.

But can you do the following:

Download a .xz file from our servers. http://www.xmltvepg.nl/rytecUK_FTA.xz is a good candidate.

Copy this file to /etc/epgimport/

Change in the source file the url for this source to this local file.

Comment out all other url's for this file by placing the XML tags around it.

Do an import of this file alone, and see if it now imports. If it imports then you definitely have an internet problem. If it does not import, we have to look further.

For these steps I'd like to receive more detailed instructions:

Change in the source file the url for this source to this local file.

Comment out all other url's for this file by placing the XML tags around it.

Open your source file in an editor. You obiaous have an own sources file and edit the UK source to this: (if you downloaded the UK UK-Basic file)

<sourcecat sourcecatname="Rytec UK Sat/Virgin XMLTV">

Hi,

This is a question about EPG Importer.

I hope you can help.

I am using OpenATV 6.3

When I use EPG Importer with Rytec's sources there are no problems.

When I use an other source url where the file ends in xml.gz I get the error download failed: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: ...

When I try the same url in a browser a file is downloaded. When I upload that same file to my own server and use that url the same file works in EPG Importer.

The epg provider says the problem must be on my end.

Thank you for any advice.

Kind regards

Add the nocheck parameter pls. like it is done for the latinMunic sources:

<sourcecat sourcecatname="LatinMunic XMLTV">

LatinMunic XMLTV Astra

LatinMunic XMLTV Hispasat

LatinMunic XMLTV TDT

LatinMunic XMLTV Astra + Hispasat + TDT

</sourcecat>

This parameter let EPGimport skip the LastUpdate check. This is a file which is present on the Rytec sources servers.

Hi doglover,

If that answer was directed to me I do have the nocheck="1" added and it makes no difference.

Kind regards

on openpli update: EPGimport-rytec

On other images update EPGimport itself

The location of the rytec.channels.xml file can be found in the sources file.

Hello,

Is there a way to sort sources scan order. In fact I'd like that EPGImport begin by rytec sources and after that it scan my own sources (custom.sources.xml). Currently it begin by my sources followed by Rytec sources.

Edit: without modify rytec.sources.xml

Thanks.
