I have my private xmltv files which I create on my server and compress as .gz

Today on my vu+ ultimo 4k with openpli 6.2 after I ran software update the EPGimport ignores my private source.

I checked the log file and I can see errors

download failed: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:

I have verified that the link is correct and furthermore - I ran in the box telnet the command wget with the same link and the file was downloaded without a problem.

Any idea?

Hi,

Please read other forum thread:

https://forums.openp...es-explanation/

Please create the LastUpdate.txt file or enable the nocheck="1" in your private sources.xml file.

You answered yourself in your previous post, nothing has been changed around the .gz file.

But why do you compress your file into .gz if it is on your local server, leave it in .xml format and adapt your source accordingly.

Compressing make sense to save bandwidth on Internet but not on local file server.

my server is local for me but I have remote users as well.

After changing back to gz (with the nocheck) it did not work so I implemented the xz and all ok.

@Pr2,

It might not be a bad idea to add the info about the changes to the readme.md in the repo?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

For the latest changes I try to be clear in the error message, but this one perhaps came from another part of the code (please check your PM).

We are not using .gz files anymore.  However if you want to use them, they still are supported in the plug-in.

Also uncompressed files can be used.

on some older boxes the plugin is still old and so the xz is not working there.

I created the sources file with both options for my users.

And appearently there is a lot of "sh*t" out that they is packaged and shipped without users having a clue (illigal IPTV?).

Of the more than half a million hits my server gets per day, some 40% are still requests for gz files.

Yup. And we're not talking about a few hits, my server gets between 500.000 and 600.000 download requests per day !

Today:

251452 hits
294706 misses (not founds and blocks)

and we still have about 3 hours to go before today's log rotates...
