Your first post suggests you're using freesat, now you say you're using freeview??

What part of "You need to install PAU on a Vu-Zero to patch the driver as it is sold as a zapper" don't you understand?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I think the OP is new to OpenPLi, so.....

Correct: only on PLi one has to install that plugin (PAU) from their feeds. Other 3rd-party images have it installed by default.

The OP has asked this same question in another topic, where he has already had this answer, but contests that this is needed.

And yes, we don't install it by default because it is against the law in some countries (where you have to pay tax on devices that can record).

You need a satellite dish for freesat, a terrestrial aerial for freeview.

That is a better reply than "it always worked so I don't need it". ;)

You need it because the VU Zero (a few other VU boxes as well) is sold as a zapper and not as a PVR, so WITHOUT the ability to record. This is done to lower the price, as in some countries (like the large German market) you need to pay a tax on devices that can record. An OpenPLi image is configured with the settings and drivers from the manufacturer, so with it you can't record.

If you live in a country that doesn't have this tax (or you don't care about the law), you can patch the drivers by installing the PAU extension, which we provide as an optional plugin.

To install, press the menu button, select Plugins, press the green button, open "extensions", scroll down until you found "pau", then press "ok" to install it. When done, restart the box.

In develop this issue seems already been solved... - at least that E2 does not crash anymore on invalid EPG data.//

Maybe we could consider to cherry-pick this one to release 6.2

Good to hear. No software should crash on invalid UTF-8 sequences, it doesn't make sense.

I don't believe EIT uses UTF-8.
