Might be some conflict with the Open PLi's hbbtv plugin as on VTi and ATV, ChromiumOS is used as a web browser. On this two images, ChromiumOS and YoutubeTV are working quite well for a long time already. As far as i know YoutubeTV is the only way to watch Youtube clips in 4K on Vu+ boxes. YoutubeTV however doesn't work without ChromiunOS. When you try to install it from the feed, it automatically installs ChromiumOS too. It would be nice if somebody with knowledge adapt it for OpenPLi images.

Are you using owif to control Vu+ with Chromium?

I've seen failure when using owif, but controlling the machine from rc, the Chromium was working fine!

I'm sorry but can you define what "owif" does mean? I was testing Chromium with the RC, and there were no problems. I see there is option to activate the Bluetooth, but i didn't try it yet. I can check later activating it and trying to use Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

If I enable chromium in the VU+ BSP, and build an image (tested on a Solo 4K), it doesn't even start up.

You tried what? changed the pam config? And did you restart the box (or samba) after that?

Can you check with ldd -r if there is some symbol missing?

I had to patch binary in order to work with newer libusb.

What does your /etc/pam.d/common-password file looks like?

#
# /etc/pam.d/common-password - password-related modules common to all services
#
# This file is included from other service-specific PAM config files,
# and should contain a list of modules that define the services to be
# used to change user passwords.  The default is pam_unix.

# Explanation of pam_unix options:
#
# The "sha512" option enables salted SHA512 passwords.  Without this option,
# the default is Unix crypt.  Prior releases used the option "md5".
#
# The "obscure" option replaces the old `OBSCURE_CHECKS_ENAB' option in
# login.defs.
#
# See the pam_unix manpage for other options.

# here are the per-package modules (the "Primary" block)
passwd [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so obscure sha512
# here's the fallback if no module succeeds
password requisite pam_deny.so
# prime the stack with a positive return value if there isn't one already;
# this avoids us returning an error just because nothing sets a success code
# since the modules above will each just jump around
password required pam_permit.so
# and here are more per-package modules (the "Additional" block)
-e passwd optional pam_smbpass.so nullok use_authtok use_first_pass

So you haven't read the posts on how to change it properly. The last line should read:

password optional pam_smbpass.so nullok use_authtok use_first_pass

This is what I push to VU+ (working on morty).

	# patch chrome for libudev.so.1
	sed -i 's/libudev.so.0/libudev.so.1/g' ${D}/usr/local/chromium/bin/chrome
        sed -i 's/libudev.so.0/libudev.so.1/g' ${D}/usr/local/chromium/bin/browser_shell
So check what ldd -r /usr/local/chromium/bin/chrome and ldd -r /usr/local/chromium/bin/browser_shell returns?
