more I'm asking what to do / change to force timeshift to work

as I'm not SME in this matter

so should i change last to be also default ? if all above are default ?

Yes,

If all are default and you can record then timeshift is in the correct place.

FYI. My preference is making a Timeshif folder on USB in my case & a Movie folder on my internal HDD.

Solved.
Issue was with timeshift path. From default after installation openpli set path to not existing folder, as I listed previously, I didn't set nothing manually.
Now I fixed manually to SD card and timeshift is fine.
ColinB thanks for photos.

All,
big thanks for all Your support.

I'm pretty sure the path isn't set to /media/HDD (in capitals) by default, it's there either because you set it, of because your restored a backup which did.

Don't want to argue but I never did set this patch there, before this thread where I wrote first time about timeshift issue I was never aware about this hidden menu for patch change.

But any way solved. Thanks

It is being looked at, appearently this is "default and standard behaviour". Imho still wrong if you don't get an error message, it would have saved us all several days...

When will be update for bitrate viewer for VU+ZERO 4k?

Probably never, the code has been stable for over 6 years, it reads the demux info from the drivers proc entry, if you don't get any data I assume that fails and VU+ needs to fix the driver.

On the other side, bitrate viewer plugin is not very stable and tend to stop working by itself (quite often).

Webm files have mostly the VP8 or VP9 codecs in them. Most STB's can't play these codecs. It has nothing to do with the OpenPLi version.

but in vti and openatv or other images I had no problem to play them.

in pli 6.2 when I played them, I had just the sound and no video. in pli 7 i have video and sound but the video runs faster and they dont match.

Which vendor/model? It might be an incomplete gstreamer config line in one of the bsp's (which the vendor needs to change).

VP9 has super frames. VU+ receivers need other implementation to support these frames as eg mutant hd51. That’s not what we like.
But maybe it’s not your problem as I only recognized video distributions.

another problem:

when in video file playing setting  " behaviour when a file reaches to end " ,  I put it to "continious play next file (loop) " it plays the next file automatically. but after restarting the box the setting resets to default " return to play list".

there is not any option to not resume a played video file ? i want to play a played file from begining. but it resumes.
